My client died this morning. It's a common occurrence in my field as an end-of-life doula. When people find out what I do, their faces suddenly show sadness and they say things like, "that must be hard" or "I could never do that." It's true, it is hard but I do seem to have a gift for it that many do not.
As I walk the beach today, I am filled with gratitude to those who have trusted me and allowed me to be a part of such a sacred time.
