San Francisco General Hospital Foundation Supporting our city’s public hospital, Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center The Foundation is entirely self-sustaining.

San Francisco General Hospital Foundation is a 501(c) 3 charitable support organization. By raising private support to augment public funding for Priscilla Chan and Mark Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center (Zuckerberg San Francisco General), the Foundation is a model for successful public-private partnerships. Privately raised funds are used for patient services, facilities, equipment purchases, and for research efforts. As the City’s only Trauma Center (Level 1), Zuckerberg San Francisco General is a crucial asset to all residents, commuters and visitors in San Francisco and northern San Mateo Counties. Zuckerberg San Francisco General is a leader in emergency response efforts, prepared 24/7 to respond during any type of emergency. Zuckerberg San Francisco General is also the City’s medical safety net treating more than 100,000 patients annually, serving the underserved and providing all patients with culturally competent services, regardless of ability to pay.

Today marks and we're highlighting the critical work of the Avon Comprehensive Breast Center at Zuckerberg San Francisco General. A state-of-the-art facility filled with warm and caring staff, beautiful healing spaces, and the latest Breast-imaging technology, the AVON Center showcases the Hospital’s dedication to infusing equity into everyday health care.

Get involved in the fight for equitable access to breast care and join the annual on Saturday, October 25. Walk 12 miles with a community of supporters to represent the 12% of women diagnosed with breast cancer.

This we’re highlighting the invaluable Patient Navigators at Zuckerberg San Francisco General. Patient Navigators have been a part of ZSFG for a number of years, helping patients understand the larger network of social services available in the city, connect to partner organizations, and better relate to members of their care team.

This role came to life with a 2019 investment from SFGHF’s newly established Transform Mental and Behavior Health Fund (TMBHF), helping ZSFG grow and find new ways to serve patients as they were discharged and beginning their recovery journey. The TMBHF continues to be core pillar of the Foundation, designed to develop innovative treatments, reinvent outdated approaches to care delivery, and improve the mental health of patients at ZSFG.
