Little did they know that I would run to Wawa on my lunch breaks. I’d buy a ton of sugary candy that I would binge on in my car before my break was over.

I vividly recall sitting in my car on my lunch break the first day I worked there. I was so afraid to eat in front of them. I cried while using my fingers to peel open 2 kiwis, which was all I allowed myself most days.

😵‍💫One day, my old male boss made me stand up and have my female colleague look at what she could look like if she was “disciplined like me”.

❗️Little did I know that a few months later I would be sexu@lly by him.

It makes me sick to think about how I hung onto every word he said about my body. It disturbingly was the only place I felt seen, special, and worthy.

🌱I now know that what I really needed was to heal from my childhood trauma (induced by a male as well). I always tried to make him happy so he would praise me, which is similar to what was happening with my old boss.

It was about processing and healing my need to seek validation outside myself. I had to redefine what was important and how I saw myself in order to stop self sabotaging my wellness goals.

Seeking external validation is a common problem for millennial women because we grew up in a thin-obsessed era, making us self conscious perfectionists that could never be good enough.

One of the most common things I hear from women struggling with restrict binge eating is they eat what they feel they should in front of others and binge on what they really want secretly.

If you constantly order or make a salad, the lowest calorie choice, or only order off the light menu, you will always feel a pull to binge on the food you really want.

You’re afraid of eating more or eating unhealthier than others. The fear of being judged based on your food selection is crippling.

If you aren’t eating the foods your soul craves, you will always feel unsatisfied and you’ll perpetuate your binge eating.

Instead, focus on what your body and soul are craving. Maybe there’s a tasty looking brownie sundae on the dessert menu you’d like to try. Maybe it’s chilly outside and you’re craving comfort food. Maybe it is sweltering hot and you actually are wanting something light and refreshing like a salad.

💖The choice you make should to be based on what YOU, and only you want. This means NOT:

-ordering a salad because everyone else is
-ordering “light” because you didn’t yesterday

My client only ordered salads when going out until we addressed and worked through needing to be the “healthy” girl.

A few weeks ago she went out and ordered a sandwich and fries with ZERO guilt! 🍟
