I am a psychiatric nurse practitioner with a journey like no other. My journey began with a spark of passion to help others. In my teenage years I wanted to become a psychologist. It was then my path changed to more challenging life experiences. At the age of 17 I was pregnant and dropped out of high school. Soon after I turned 18 I was a mother. In the years following I faced many struggles. I had periods of homelessness, faced poverty, I found my self in situations of abuse, my daughter at the age of 6 was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes, and so much more. By the age of 25 I was a mother of three and recently married. There is no one I blame for the things I endured. It is because of them I reflect on my past knowing it is this path that has created who I am today.
As a wife, mother of three, working full time as a phlebotomist, knowing I wanted more, I chose to pursue my nursing degree. I was helping others, but I could feel it in my core it wasn’t enough. I wanted to help in ways that bedside nursing wouldn't allow. I continued on in my educated and completed my psychiatric nurse practitioner in 2012. Throughout the years, I have come to define how I can help and that is not on medication prescriptions alone. I continued to enhance my education through SWIHA’s Holistic Nutrition Wellness Practitioner Program. It is through this program I have been flooded with ideas on how I can create wellness in others.
I am here today to help coach clients in finding their answers within so that they can become the best that they can be. I want to minimize the use of psychotropic medications and utilize the support of behavior modification, nutrition, and stress management to create wellness in others. I want to heal those who are tired of letting life live them. It is in this healing I can create a wave of change in my community. It is in this I find my peace and know that I am in the right place following my passion.
