Healing the Children extends its heartfelt concern to all impacted by these terrible fires. Our partner OhanaOne and our Southern California Healing the Children, Southern California Chapter and many volunteers are close to this tragedy. To all, we send our love and compassion.

As we witness the devastating fires affecting our cherished city, our hearts are with you. At Ohana One, we extend our deepest gratitude to the courageous firefighters, first responders, and volunteers who tirelessly risk their lives to safeguard our communities. Your dedication is an inspiration for us all.

To those impacted by these tragedies, please know that you are in our thoughts. We stand united with you during this challenging time and are steadfast in our commitment to support our community as it heals and rebuilds.

Christmas 2024



The Christmas poems I’ve written, share some common styles,

Made to boost our memories, of days chock full of smiles,

Like the joy that’s in the air, as Christmastime commences,

And the sharpness that arrives, in all our heightened senses.



We see the scarlet cardinal, against the green-clad pine,

And the decorated lights upon the houses look so fine.

We smell frosted-sugar cookies, and hot chocolate too,

And the turkey in the oven, and a pot of fragrant stew.



And yes, there’s always shopping, and folks forever buying,

With traveling a challenge, and crowded airplanes flying.

There are Santa’s helpers everywhere, even costumed elves,

While we’re singing “Jingle Bells,” if only to ourselves.



We hear the church bells ringing, in the stillness of the night,

And the children’s laughter, as they scurry left and right.

And while our hearts will always ache, for those no longer here,

Moments with our loved ones are somehow made more dear.



Apart from all the turmoil, and the gifts for you from me,

Is the quiet time we spend, giving thanks on bended knee.

It’s when we step aside, from the bustle and the mess,

And maybe give a hand, to a stranger in distress.



And whether someone’s naughty, or whether someone’s nice,

A smile or a warm embrace can be the best advice.

So, store these Christmas feelings, never hesitating

To recall them if you’re down: they’ll be right there just waiting.



With each successive poem, the same topics still are there,

But now include more poignant themes. Perhaps I’m more aware,

Of appreciating moments, not just in December.

Keeping them inside my heart, always to remember.



So. deck the halls and party, and have some sparkling wine,

Greet the eve of ‘25, with a heartfelt “ Auld Lang Syne”

Please stay full of health! Be mindful, glad and clever.

I hope this bright new year becomes your greatest ever!
