Join me Wednesday at noon.
I will be sharing the 3 biggest myths about reversing diabetes and pre-diabetes in midlife.

One of the biggest myths in women’s health is that it all comes down to calories in, calories out.

For women in perimenopause or menopause — especially those navigating insulin resistance or type 2 diabetes — that thinking doesn’t just fall short. It keeps you stuck.

Because your body is more complex than a math equation.
When your nervous system is constantly pulled into stress, it doesn’t just change blood sugar, cravings, and metabolism.
It also makes every decision around food and health feel harder than it should.

And yet the standard approach is more medication, more Band-Aids — without addressing the root.

✨ In my free live training, I’ll show you a different way:
The Midlife Metabolic Reset: How to Reverse Prediabetes Without Meds

This isn’t about quick fixes. It’s about evidence-based lifestyle medicine that helps you take back control of your health.

If your doctor has ever said the words prediabetes or insulin resistance… here’s the truth:
👉 It’s not a life sentence.
👉 You don’t have to just “wait until it gets worse.”
👉 And it’s not about more meds or crash diets.

With the right shifts in food, lifestyle, and support, you can reverse prediabetes and thrive in midlife.

That’s exactly what I’m teaching this week in a free live training:
The Midlife Metabolic Reset: How to Reverse Prediabetes Without Meds

Eating more plants isn’t just about “being healthy.”
🌱 They help balance blood sugar
💪 Protect your heart
🧠 Support your brain
🌸 And give you energy to thrive in midlife and beyond.

The secret isn’t restriction—it’s abundance. The more colors, flavors, and variety you add to your plate, the more your body (and mind) thank you.

👉 Save this for inspiration next time you’re building your plate.

Healthcare environments are often the least supportive places for health. Vending machines, skipped meals, and high stress make it easy to reach for what’s quick — not what’s nourishing.

Even as a lifestyle medicine physician, I’m not immune to those pressures. It’s human nature to choose what’s available, especially when foods are engineered to keep us coming back for more.

That’s why I focus less on willpower and more on setting up my environment for success. Bringing food from home and keeping healthy options accessible makes the nourishing choice the easy choice.

And it’s not about perfection — some days the less healthy choice wins, and that’s okay. What matters is consistent effort. Over time, it gets easier, and you feel the difference. 🌿

💬 How do you set yourself up for success in a challenging environment?

Ever feel like you’re doing all the things — eating better, moving more, trying to manage stress — and the scale still won’t budge? 🤎

It’s frustrating, and you’re not alone.
For so many women in midlife, stubborn weight and rising blood sugars come back to:
✨ Insulin resistance
✨ Hormone shifts
✨ Stress and disrupted sleep

That’s why GLP-1 medications like Ozempic have become so popular. And while they can help, they don’t always address those deeper root causes.

🌱 That’s where lifestyle medicine comes in.
I help women 40+ find a non-pharmacologic path to:
🤎 Reverse diabetes risk
⚖🏾 Lose weight without extremes
💤 Finally feel steady, energized, and confident again

Whether you’re on a GLP-1 now or looking for an alternative, you deserve a plan that lasts.

Forget shoe sales. My weakness? Farmers markets.

I used to love shoe shopping, but now a good market stops me every time. I love trying new things and the challenge of finding inventive ways to use my finds.

The colors aren’t just pleasing to the eye — there’s real science behind them. Eating the rainbow supports your microbiome, which is one of the biggest contributors to overall health.

And shopping local brings even more benefits:
✨ You can learn directly from the farmer
✨ Kids are more likely to try foods they pick out themselves
✨ Small farms often use more sustainable practices, which means more nutritious food
✨ You’ll see varieties you may never find in the grocery store

Have you ever tried a cucamelon?

Constipation and abdominal pain are two of the most common complaints I see in pediatric urgent care. A low-fiber diet is often at the root — and it does more harm than just tummy troubles.

Fiber-rich foods deliver far more than fiber alone: they’re packed with nutrients, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatory compounds that support growth, healing, and long-term health.

The best way to encourage kids? Engage them. It may look different a each stage:
👶 Preschoolers love games → Eat the Rainbow makes meals fun.
🧒 School-age kids → let them start making choices about which colors or foods go on the plate.
👦👧 Tweens & teens → connect it to what matters to them: clearer skin, less belly pain, stronger muscles, faster recovery after sports.

🌈 Some great fiber sources to rotate:
🍎 Apples with the skin
🍓 Berries
🥦 Broccoli
🥕 Carrots
🌽 Corn
🌱 Beans & lentils
🌾 Oats & whole grains

When kids are engaged and understand why it matters, fiber becomes more than a nutrient — it’s a foundation for thriving.

I usually like to bring food with me, but time doesn’t always allow. I’m grateful to have a place like where healthy choices are easy and delicious. 🌱

Today’s bowl: beet burger, pickled onions, quinoa, kale, and herbs + spices that do more than add flavor.

✨ Flavor is medicine. Herbs and spices are some of the most concentrated sources of antioxidants and plant compounds we can eat. They support gut health, calm inflammation, and even protect the heart.

This is the heart of Joyful Wellness: food that nourishes the body, delights the senses, and supports long-term health. It’s not about restriction—it’s about flavor, abundance, and creating meals that truly help you thrive.
