I have been reflecting on Childhood Obesity Week, and I have to admit
I’m deeply uncomfortable with the way we talk about children and health.

There’s so much focus on numbers—calories, macros, weight, even medications and surgery—as if the “problem” of health can be solved with better metrics.

But when we start with weight as the goal, the solutions become flat: restrict more, move more, track more.

What if we started somewhere else entirely?
What if the goal was a joyful, nourishing lifestyle that sets the foundation for lifelong health—not just for kids outside the norm, but for all kids?

Being featured by the Plantrician Project this week was an honor — but more than anything, it was a reminder of why I do this work.
