We are so grateful to announce that Jax Kids Aquatics was a recipient of the HEAL Foundation Grant. We were able to purchase life jackets and two Kyrios Suits to use in our aquatic therapy and adaptive swim lessons. A portion of the funding will be used to cover in-person language interpretation poolside. This helps us to further our mission in making water safety and adaptive swim education inclusive to all families. Thank you so much to HEAL Foundation for choosing Jax Kids Aquatics as a grant recipient and allowing us to further help our community.

We had a great day at the City of Jacksonville’s Disability Expo today! Our friends Bob and Mike from Divers Supply Jacksonville, as well as Kacey from Eisenhower Jacksonville, were able to spread the word about the Scubility program and adaptive diving. It was fun meeting so many new people and talking with some sweet kids about how much they love to swim!

The Disability and Adaptive Recreation Expo is coming up in two weeks on July 26th at the Prime Osborn Convention Center in downtown Jacksonville. This is such a great event to find out about all the resources available within the community in one place. We will see you there!

Have you been thinking about a therapy intensive for your child? We love intensives for children who are on the verge of a new skill and could use a quick jolt of intensity to achieve that skill. Aquatic therapy intensives are especially great for kids who have a hard time with fatigue on land as the water limits the effects of gravity. Your child will receive an hour long session in the water, every day for five days straight. These dates will likely be the only week long intensives offered this year. All sessions will take place at our Mandarin location in Jacksonville, Florida. Space is limited. Call or email us for pricing and availability.

It is with sincere gratitude that I announce our occupational therapist, Shelley, is moving on to new adventures. While I'm sad to see her go, I'm also very excited for her new endeavor in helping families closer to home and throughout the underserved areas of Bradford County . Shelley has made a significant impact on our kids and families, and I know she'll continue to do amazing things. Shelley, thank you for allowing me to get my feet wet (no pun intended) in employee hiring and payroll, and for always matching my enthusiasm for whatever ideas I might come up with. Join me in sending her lots of love and well wishes for this next chapter! We'll miss you, Shelley!

For any therapists who are interested in learning more about aquatic therapy, this is a great course coming to Florida from Swim Angelfish. Their Totally Treatment online course gave me so many new ideas to implement right away in my aquatic therapy sessions. I’m excited to attend the in-water portion of the training in February. Who’s coming with me?
