Hello beautiful people♥️

Here's all 5 tips on Creating the New Good Ole Days in your life!

I have a little confession.....

My goal this week was to post for 5 consecutive days with these tips and welp, I only went 4 days consecutive 🙄 I could feel myself being hard on myself and the holy spirit gently reminded me that the week was not OVER👀 (does he only do me this way?)

So here it is! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾

Creating new traditions and practices that align with your values and beliefs is a great way to begin creating the new good ole days

If you and your family stick to the same routine, the same family members' house, the same dishes at Thanksgiving and Christmas, or travel to the same beach house - it's okay to switch things up a bit!

One of my goals for 2024 is to travel for the holidays at least for either Thanksgiving or Christmas and maybe even get a Chef to make the dinner so I do not have to cook (inserts happy dance)

Here are some journal prompts to explore how to create new traditions:
1. What have you wanted to do as a family or with Connections?
2. What gets in the way of you starting new traditions? (what are the barriers to actually beginning?)
3. Set a family meeting or meeting with your friends and family to share ideas on the NEW ways you desire to spend the holidays

Grief during the holidays can be heavy!

If I'm going to tell you to create the good Ole days, I thought I'd give 5 tips on how to get started.

Tip #1 is Nurturing your Connections and supportive people in your life.

One of the easiest ways we cope with holiday grief is the desire and sometimes ex*****on of retreating and withdrawing from people that we hold dear to us. Those we KNOW care about us and love us.

We may feel like we don't want to bring down the mood or become a burden when our own heaviness sets in

Isolation is absolutely dangerous and becomes a breeding ground for intrusive and unhealthy thoughts to take over.

Despite how you feel, spend time with the people that matter most to you and......

CREATE THE NEW OLE' DAYS TOGETHER!

I promise you they can handle you, want to support you, and want you to feel loved during this time.

Spending time with ourselves can sound simple and easy to do.

We may spend time solo time by engaging in our beauty appointments, sitting with maybe a glass of wine at home and maybe even curling up to binge-watch Netflix!

These are some of the ways we spend time with ourselves- or should I say, we call it spending time with ourselves.

This post is really about spending time with ourselves in such a way that includes checking in on how we are doing, what we are feeling, and what areas in our life need our attention. BEFORE distress rears it head!

Not taking this time, can lead to anxiety, panic and well- sinking into the abyss (that's what I call the dark place)!

When life is busy we often neglect this intimate "Me time" that's needed- and boy did I learn this the hard way this week!

Here are some journal prompts for spending time with YOU in this season:
1. Write down what you notice around how you are feeling (mood & emotions)
2. Are there areas of my life that need my attention? This can be professional, relational, financial etc..
3. How does it feel to notice what you feel and the areas that you listed? How do you feel toward these revelations? (I.e. don't like it, love it, compassionate toward it)
Listen for what comes up and jot down what you hear....

This is the time of year when Grief sets in for most of us!

There are many ways we grieve including the loss of loved ones, missed opportunities, unmet expectations from relationships, and transitioning from the old into the new. (I’ll elaborate on this later)

I hear so many speak about how things used to be, the “GOOD OLD DAYS” and make statements like “I’ll never get those times back”, “those were the best days of my LIFE” (I raise my hand- Guilty)

It’s okay to remember the good old days and acknowledge the good times….

But we must be mindful of staying in the nostalgia in such an EXTREME way that we go into further grief, and regret being unable to see the possibilities of creating the new

“CREATING THE NEW GOOD OLE DAYS”

The moments you create today, this week, and this year WILL SOON too, become "the Good Old Days"



So, as you remember the Good Old Days, don’t forget to create them also.

Make a list of things you want to do in this season of your life, and the new memories you want to create.
