As the day goes on please remember to hydrate and stay inside as needed! Remember there are cooling stations in most towns. Also Walmart had AC running!
***Hot and Humid Weather Peaks Today.***
High temperatures this afternoon will climb well into the 90s south of Katahdin away from the immediate shoreline. To the north, high temperatures will be close to 90 degrees.
Feels like temperatures over 100 are expected on this afternoon over interior areas south of Katahdin. This will lead to very dangerous conditions, bringing serious heat related illnesses consisting of muscle cramps and nausea. Further north, feels like temperatures will be in the 90s this afternoon.
An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect for Tuesday for Southern Penobscot, Interior Hancock, and Central Washington Counties. A Heat Advisory is in effect for Tuesday for Southern Piscataquis, Central & Northern Penobscot, Southeastern Aroostook, Northern and Coastal Washington, and Coastal Hancock Counties.
A weak cold front will bring the threat of isolated showers and thunderstorms to parts of the area this afternoon. Any storms may be capable of producing gusty winds as well.
Turning much cooler and less humid behind the front for Wednesday through the rest of the week.
