Anna Bovee, ARNP, is a nurse practitioner at Providence Seaside Walk-in Clinic. Along with being a married mother and grandmother, Anna made her way from Atlanta, Georgia to the west coast in 2012. She graduated nursing school in 1994 and nurse practitioner school in 2007 and has been with Providence 18 months. She was drawn to Providence Seaside by our Mission and values and an environment that allows her to treat her patients with care and compassion.

"Living in a small town with the ocean and mountains made Seaside irresistible. Nursing has been a calling and there are no other health care people in my family," shares Anna. "My favorite part of my job is the clinical aspect of face-to-face, hands on care. Supporting and assisting patients to feel better. A vital part of my job is to educate on assessment, treatment and expected outcomes."

When Anna isn't working, she enjoys exercising, hiking, bowling and traveling.

Providence Seaside Walk-in Clinic is located at 727 Wahanna Road, suite 230 in Seaside.

Congratulations to Providence Seaside Hospital for earning two Practice Greenhealth Environmental Excellence Awards. The Circles of Excellence celebrates hospitals which have not only earned an award for all-around sustainability achievement, but who have also been identified as the top ten scoring programs for each category of sustainability. The Greenhealth Emerald Award recognizes the top 20 percent of hospitals that are focused on advanced sustainability programs and have exemplary scores in a range of categories.

Through important programs, services and activities, our caregivers continue to represent Providence as champions for the environment. All eight Providence hospitals in Oregon were honored by Practice Greenhealth, one of the nation’s leading organizations dedicated to environmental sustainability. More than 1,200 local children learned about the importance of oral health this school year thanks to Providence Healthy Smiles program. A partnership with dental assistant students from Tongue Point Job Corps in Astoria helps students learn about flossing, brushing, cavities and what causes them as well as what to expect when visiting a dentist.

At Lewis and Clark Elementary School, special education teacher Mrs. Visser partnered with Providence Health Smiles to bring a special dental station to give her students a hands-on experience with education puppets, toothbrushes, floss picks, timers, as well as a book about visiting the dentist to her classroom.

We love those health smiles!

We've begun our Journey to Pathway to Excellence Designation from the American Nursing Credentialing Center! The Pathway to Excellence program is the premier designation for healthy work environments and recognizes health care organizations for positive practice environments where nurses excel. We are in the process of pursuing this designation and having some fun along the way with The Goonies as our theme and our treasure will be earning the designation from ANCC.

This week we recognized Meghan Flannery, rehabilitation supervisor, with the highly esteemed Values in Action Award. This is the highest honor given by Providence. This annual recognition program celebrates caregivers who go above and beyond to model our five values: compassion, dignity, justice, excellence and integrity.

Congratulations, Meghan, OTR/L on this well-deserved recognition!

We are proud to support the nursing program at Clatsop Community College with our recent donation of 7 hospital beds. “The state-of-the-art beds from Providence will replace several manual crank beds used currently in the college’s nursing labs,” said Tina Kotson, RN, nursing instructor, Clatsop Community College. “As a result, the students will soon have the benefit of using modern equipment to practice skills and build competency so they can provide optimal patient care in the hospital setting. We are very grateful!”
We are thrilled the beds will be put to good use to help train future caregivers for our community!

UPDATE: Providence and Regence reach agreement to continue care delivery services together.

We are pleased to announce that Providence and Regence have worked throughout the weekend and have reached agreement for a new contract. As we finalize our work on that new contract, Providence has rescinded its contract termination. This means that all Providence patients with Regence health insurance will continue to have in-network access to care at Providence facilities and clinics.

We are grateful for Regence’s acknowledgement of our need to meet rising costs and compensate our caregivers, and we look forward to working in continued partnership and collaboration with Regence to serve our patients and communities with world-class health care services.

Patients with Regence health insurance: Do you have an appointment, procedure or surgery scheduled for Jan. 15 or later at a Providence hospital or facility? You might be out of network if you have Regence health insurance. Call 1-888-675-6570 to discuss your options.

For months, Providence has been negotiating with Regence for fair and sustainable reimbursement rates to pay our doctors, nurses and caregivers for the services they provide to our patients with Regence insurance.

Patients with Regence health insurance might be out of network at Providence hospitals and clinics after our commercial contract expires on Jan. 15, 2024, and our Medicare Advantage contract expires on Feb. 15, 2024. Patients are encouraged to contact Regence directly with questions about their insurance at 1-888-675-6570.

In total, $2.5 million was raised at Providence Festival of Trees events around the state in Medford, Portland and Seaside to support patient services in their communities. Thank you to all who participated!

From all of us at Providence, Happy Thanksgiving. We are thankful for our community and our compassionate caregivers - may health and happiness be yours in abundance, not only on this day, but throughout the holiday season.

Special thanks to Dr. James Beckerman, cardiologist, for visiting AM Northwest earlier this week to share about the upcoming 12th season for Providence Heart to Start 5K training community. As one of the longest-running (pun intended) community programs for the Providence Heart Institute, it's wonderful to see so many people - from across the nation and around the world - making a commitment to staying active during the cool winter months.
Take a listen, and consider joining us. Heart to Start, along with other Providence Basecamp programs, are free and open to everyone, everywhere. www.hearttostart.org
