April is Occupational Therapy Month!

One of the most misunderstood aspects of occupational therapy is the term ‘occupation’. In simplest terms, occupations are things that occupy our time. The earliest writings in our profession outline 3 primary areas: work, play, rest, and sleep. We’ve kept these, but now recognize 9 areas of occupation, under which fall hundreds of activities!

Last week, we worked on creating a collage of some positive affirmations and talked about how they can be helpful for our brain (a little growth mindset!). We had a lot of choices printed out but also brainstormed more. It was great to see what each of them saw in themselves, especially coming up with their own! ❤️
