Wayne Michael Pitre
February 19, 1951 - January 1, 2026

Wayne Michael Pitre was the second of four sons born to Emelia Chabert Pitre and Loulan Joseph Pitre, Sr. He was raised in Cut Off, Louisiana, and was a graduate of South Lafourche High School where he was a member of the varsity football team. Wayne was an avid hunter and fisherman from childhood.

After graduation from LSU came medical school and then a residency in dermatology at Tulane Medical Center. At his beloved alma mater Wayne met Kappa Sigma fraternity brothers who would become lifelong friends.

Wayne began his career in dermatology at The Street Clinic. He retired due to health issues from The Dermatology and Skin Cancer Clinic which he had established.

With sly wit, no pretension, and an ever-ready sense of humor, Wayne was one of those people you could not help liking. From his father he inherited a love of spirited debate and from his mother a big, generous heart. His family and friends both young and young at heart could always count on him for support and sound advice. He never met a stranger including his encounter with John Denver. Wayne’s friends did not believe that he had chatted with the hugely popular singer until later from across the street John hollered “Hey, Wayne!”. Wayne was a loving, generous “dad” to his stepson, Jason, and a proud, doting grandfather to his step-grandson, Nicholas. Family was always a priority for Wayne. From Vicksburg to Grand Isle to St. Francisville and numerous points between, countless treasured family memories were made.

Wayne is preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Kathleen Mary Ann Pitre.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Marie, stepson, Jason Allen, daughter-in-law, Tammy Allen, step-grandson, Nicholas Allen, brothers, Holland Pitre (Melanie), Glen Pitre (Michelle), and Lou Pitre (Tiffany); brother-in-law, David Downey (Penny) and sister-in-law, Marsha Bridgers. He is also survived by nieces and nephews Gannon Pitre, Laura Pitre Eckert (Walter), Emelie Pitre, Mathieu Pitre (Lauren), Ellen Pitre, Loulan Pitre, Bert Wright (Tara), Tony Wright (Jenny), Bradley Downey (Alex), Neal Downey (Holly), Jessica Downey (Josh); great nieces, Audrey Eckert, Marigny Eckert, Emelia Pitre, Tilly Ann Wright, and Vallie Paige Wright; great nephews, Mason Downey, Charlie Downey, Paxton Downey, and Bowen Downey.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home, 5000 Indiana Avenue, Vicksburg, Mississippi. Visitation will be held from noon until the hour of service. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
