Very sad news…. You never know what ANY is going through! Always smile and check in on eachother! Sending prayers to the family and the world. 🙏🙏🙏

Three years ago this beautiful woman won the title of Miss NC and went on to be Crowned Miss USA. Two weeks ago she did an interview with Denzel Washington where they were laughing and smiling. Today, she jumped from a 29 story building leaving only a note giving her mother her worldly possessions. I don’t know what pain and trauma lead her to make that decision but it shows you never know what those around us are suffering and dealing with. That’s why I try my best to treat people well, speak a good word whenever I can to bring a smile when I can. Do right by those you care for and love…we all need it.

I haven’t posted in awhile because our family had a major hit this this year with my Grandpa Norm passing away and then my baby sister Olivia and even my great grandpa Billy passing! So I needed time to grieve and help my own immediate family! I’m only 16 years old but no child should ever wonder if their Grandma or their own mother, their life giver and protector would take their own lives!

I come from strong Apache women in my family but when you see them break down and be at their most vulnerable your training kicks in. You think about depression and stages of it and start to see patterns of your own mother, wondering would she ever get out of bed again. You Watch your parents go though the motions of planning a funeral and picking out a casket I myself can carry alone. It’s hard and you feel helpless and just want the whole world to be a dream and turn back time. You see your mom not eat, tears all day for weeks, gifts from a registry be delivered and break her heart all over again. You grandma crying and continuing to talk about the greatest man you knew. A lot of sadness and pain.

It took my mom 4 weeks to finally get out of bed after my sister was buried and put on make up and clothes vs sweat pants and house slippers. I thank God she answered her call to go to work and put on her San Carlos Apache SWFF shirt and leave the house and know she picked to continue life and help others. She slowly started to do things for herself again and start getting back in the kitchen where her treats and creations make her happy. I saw my mom start caring again and realizing we all exist and still needed her. For that I am very great full to the Creator for giving her back to us. The strength of a parent is continuously selfless and they do things we may not even know about.

So I wanted to share this story and share with you all that if my mom can bury her own child and still get up and come back from that pain that we need to as youth continue the favor and live strong, healthy and positive lives for our parents. That we need to honor our elders and life givers not by taking our own lives but by healing and over coming our depression or whatever it is that is holding us in dark places!

I know if my sister Olivia had a choice she would have chose life and to be in my mom arms today! With my moms permission I post these selected photos to show you how hard and the pain my mother felt and sees every day but keeps getting up and making us feel like this is just a memory and experience we can over come together as a family and for my mom as a person.

With all this covid-19 happening I know many are angry, sad or depressed but this will all pass! Pray for healing and work on positive energy to lead lives we as tribal youth deserve! Honor our parents today and tomorrow and for the rest of our lives because many like my baby sister will never get that opportunity!

For many adults who are incarcerated they have emotional battles within themselves to over come, for many it started as childhood trauma! This video shows them opening up and taking ownership of that abuse growing up by a parent or guardian and finding compassion within themselves to reconnect and voice their fears and emotional abuse that existed in their childhood and possibly played a role in how they continued to live as adults! Check it out!

Unaddressed childhood trauma changes how we respond to the world and when triggered, we make choices that sometimes have devastating consequences including domestic…

I haven’t had much time to post with everything going on in my families personal lives the past month. It’s been rough: we lost 4 family members and I was just thinking about how this pandemic would affect people in quarantine. It’s a crazy time to be in the world and I want to encourage you all to pray and stay positive because their is a light at the end of this tunnel. Check on your family and elders, friends and loved ones! Send letters, Snapchat’s, FaceTime calls and let them know they are not alone.

Safe travels to this man, prayers to his family. 😞
