Saw this quote in a book and felt it needed a permanent spot on my IG page.

It’s so true though, providers want to instill so much fear into you because they are afraid of not managing birth themselves.

Hands off, physiological birth is always the best route until something needs to be managed, things don’t need to be controlled from the beginning, especially by someone other than the mother.

If you’re a Christian, a true follower of Christ and His word, are you really trusting the Lord around your birth if you fear birth?

God has everything planned out for you and He created you, so do you really have faith in Him if you are fearful about giving birth?

I understand there are situations that could arise which can be scarey, but be educated on what do to do in that situation and PRAY. God will always take care of His people.

He knows your every move before you even make it.

Did you ever get asked why you were declining something during pregnancy, labor, or for your children? Did it almost make you give in or feel inferior?

The only two reasons you need to govern your doctor when they ask you why you are declining something.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PROVIDE THE RESEARCH YOU’VE FOUND SUPPORTING YOIR DECISION.

It is YOUR body and YOUR children and you owe NO ONE an explanation, even those with letters after their name who think they have authority over you.

Happy World Doula Day to all my fellow birth workers!

I forgot to post for my one year of being a doula, (February 21st) but this first year of being in birth work has been incredible and life changing. Within my first year being a doula I’ve had the pleasure of supporting 7 moms deliver their babies, 4 baby girls and 3 baby boys.
And since my one year I’ve supported two more mamas deliver 2 baby girls.

Each birth I’ve had the honor of attending holds a special place in my heart. Each has been different and special in their own way. And I cannot thank each of those Mamas enough for trusting me in their birth space during one of the most sacred moments of their lives. It means the absolute world to me.

And to my future Mamas, I’m so excited to support you on your journey through pregnancy and labor and delivery 🤍

Thank you to everyone who’s supported me this last year, especially my hubby. I wouldn’t be able to do this without him. Thank you to everyone who shares my posts and recommends me to others. Your recommendations are the best review that I could get. 💌

My first year as a doula has been incredible. Every birth I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing has been a true miracle and a testimony of Gods goodness.
BUT….
Nothing beats witnessing the miracle of my best friend birth her rainbow baby 🌈
Being there for her and her husbands journey from the beginning until their baby girl was finally here in their arms has been a journey that I am so happy to have been apart of.
I will forever be grateful they allowed me in their birth space in such an intimate and special moment for their family.
Ashley was incredible laboring all day enduring back labor. She trusted God and her body and allowed it to do exactly what God created it for.
Congratulations to the Hixenbaughs and especially to Mama for the strength and perseverance she showed during her birth.
This will be a birth I will hold dear to my heart forever 🤍with.hix

I truly believe we would have a much lower diagnosis of PPD and PPA amongst mothers if this was routinely practiced in every household.

I think the two most contributing factors to PPD and PPA are birth trauma, did you have a good labor or a traumatic labor, and how much support you have after birth.

AND TRUST ME I KNOW THIS ISNT DOABLE FOR EVERY MOTHER.

I know there are single mothers who don’t have the support they need after birth. I know Dads have to return back to work quickly. BUT that is a problem that also needs to be addressed to make this rule possible. Dads should have a minimum of two weeks paternity leave. If you don’t have the support from baby’s dad or don’t have a partner, a doula can be helpful postpartum. Why I his why there has been more of a push for insurances to cover doula care. Or we should have better villages around us. We should have friends or family who are willing to help during the postpartum period.

Like I said I know this isn’t doable for everyone, or even if it is maybe your like me and have a hard time relaxing 🙃
But if this is possible for you, this is how it should be to recover from birth.

Did you practice the 5-5-5 rule postpartum?
