In honor of World Su***de Prevention Day, we’re shedding light on a conversation that is often missing in our community: the mental health struggles of South Asian men.

Su***de is a growing public health concern, yet research on South Asian Americans, especially men, remains extremely limited. Cultural stigma, family pressures, and the weight of the model minority myth often leave little space for vulnerability. Add to that the challenges of adjusting to life in the U.S., work and financial stress, and the lack of accessible community support, and the risks become even greater.

At Brown Man Therapy, we know how rarely these issues are talked about, and how often men are left to navigate their struggles alone. That’s why our mission is to create space for South Asian men to show up fully — with their stories, vulnerabilities, and truths.

If you or someone you know is struggling, you are not alone. Resources are available and healing is possible.

Last night’s Guys & Chai was a beautiful gathering of community, vulnerability, and conversation. 🌿✨

We had a great turnout at Three Avenues Bookshop as Rahim Thawer shared insights from his new book “The Mental Health Guide for Cis & Trans Guys”, joined by Ankur Varma for a heartfelt dialogue on masculinity, identity, and healing.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, shared space, and took part in the vibrant conversations. More highlights to come!

Joy has always been a form of resistance for q***r and trans people — a way to reclaim space, build community, and affirm existence in the face of oppression.

For South Asian men, especially those taught to equate strength with silence, choosing joy can be an act of unlearning.

Making time for joy isn’t indulgent, it’s progress.

Matcha>Macho 🍵

Matcha mental wellness disguised as a green latte. It’s a moment to pause, breathe, and remind yourself that you don’t have to hustle every second to be worthy. For a generation of men unlearning toxic masculinity, matcha is a vehicle for self care and community.

Tag a friend you’d drink matcha and yap with.

When your worth is tied to how you measure up to others, it’s hard to feel like you’re ever doing enough.
It’s even harder to slow down and notice what you actually want, need, or feel.

Anxiety can grow in this gap. Between who you are and who you think you’re supposed to be.

Learn what anxiety really is, why it can hit us differently as Brown men, how it shows up in our communities, and ways to manage it with care and understanding.

Happy Earth Day! 🌎 It’s important to recognize the power of our relationship with the earth. Connecting or grounding yourself (literally touching earth) can help center and settle your mind. Being intentional in respecting what this planet gives us helps us feel more gratitude, positive thinking, and connectedness to others, building empathy.

Early in my career, I learned that activism and working to tear down oppression of all kinds—in our minds, families, communities, and society—was an integral part of mental health. How can we be healthy if we are carrying hatred and bias toward others?

Early in my career, I learned that activism and working to tear down oppression of all kinds—in our minds, families, communities, and society—was an integral part of mental health. How can we be healthy if we are carrying hatred and bias toward others?

Last Friday, we were part of a conversation on anti-blackness in Asian American communities, an issue that needs to be addressed head-on. Thank you to for facilitating this powerful space for open dialogue grounded in accountability, healing, and solidarity! Spaces like these show that when we come together in community, we can build relationships and tear down the myths of the past that hold us all back.
