We’re proud to continue our July Employee Spotlight: Customer Service Excellence Awards by recognizing Kim Fussell with Children’s Medical Services! 🎉
Kim was nominated for her extraordinary support of a critically ill patient and their family. She went above and beyond to ensure the patient and family had access to all necessary medications and a smooth transition to the critical care hospital. Kim worked outside of her normal hours to make a difficult situation a little easier for the family.

WIC Farmer’s Market is coming to Turner this week 🍉
Each participating WIC family will receive $30 in vouchers to spend on fresh, locally grown fruits and veggies. Each market will be held at the local health department. There are only two chances left to participate in this year's WIC markets.

Three mosquito pools have tested positive for West Nile Virus, and South Health District is urging residents to take steps to protect themselves from mosquito bites.
Protect yourself:
✔️ Use insect repellent with DEET, picaridin, IR3535, or oil of lemon eucalyptus
✔️ Wear long sleeves and pants when possible
✔️ Keep window and door screens intact
✔️ Eliminate standing water around your home
✔️ Limit outdoor activity from dusk to dawn or take extra precautions during those hours

The Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) funds and collaborates with eighteen separate public health districts throughout the state. South Health District is comprised of ten counties in south central Georgia: Ben Hill, Berrien, Brooks, Cook, Echols, Irwin, Lanier, Lowndes, Tift and Turner.
William R. Grow, MD, FACP is the District Health Director. Before being appointed as the director in December of 2010, Dr. Grow practiced Internal Medicine in Valdosta for over 35 years at Valdosta Medical Clinic. At South Georgia Medical Center, he served as Chief of Staff and Chief of Medicine at different times throughout his career. Through his work as an Internist, Dr. Grow developed a real passion for community health. While he enjoyed seeing patients personally in private practice, he now enjoys working to better the health of all individuals in South Georgia.
