Here's how many people cause low back pain unknowingly. Instructions at this park in Santa Monica, California, USA show how to do sit-ups. This is NOT the correct way to do sit-ups!!! This type of sit-up will tighten your psoas muscle. The psoas muscle is underneath your abdominal muscles. So if you do sit-ups like the diagram shows, you will strengthen your abs, but in the process you will also tighten your psoas muscle. This will lead to low back pain. A tight psoas muscle is a principle reason why people suffer from low back pain.
The proper way to do sit-ups is to raise the torso up 30 degrees from the ground. In the diagram, the subject has his torso 90 degrees from the horizontal plane... very bad for the body.

Walking barefoot on the earth is very helpful for removing inflammation from the body. This concept is known as "earthing" and has received more notice during the past five years. Connecting to the ground source helps the body stay more pliable. Sleeping or resting on the earth will also provide similar benefits to the body. The best place to do barefoot walking is by the beach, especially near the waves. Touching the wet ground increases the benefits of "earthing." When walking by the beach, be careful not to spend too much time walking on an incline as this is not good for the hips and low back. Additionally, walking on the wet grass is going to provide more benefit to the body than walking on dry grass. When walking on the grass, try to find grass that has not been treated with pesticides.

The best part of being an AIS practitioner is being able to help mom. Active Isolated Stretching is the best treatment to help our aging parents. Last week I had a scare after mom fell. Immediately, I knew that her loss of balance was related to building stiffness in her neck.
The final piece to addressing balance issues in elderly people is to work the digastric jaw muscle.

Welcome to the home of the bodyCushion

http://www.bodysupport.com/

Many people sleep on their stomach which is really bad for the neck. If you can only sleep on your stomach, then I recommend using the body cushion on your bed. This will allow you to be in correct alignment while sleeping on your stomach. Keep in mind that sleeping on your back with your legs elevated is the best sleeping position. I explain this on my paid videos.

Developed in 1986, the bodyCushion is now used by more than 100,000 professionals worldwide: Physical Therapists, Massage Therapists, Chiropractors, rehabilitation Specialists and other medical and therapeutic professionals.

Pain specialist - Neck, Back, Hip, knee, shoulder pain Honolulu, Oahu

Currently, I've got two pay-to-view videos available on my website: http://www.resolveyourpain.com

On both of these videos, I mentioned that the number of repetitions to do for each stretch is six reps. At the time of making my videos, this was the number that the developer had been experimenting with. Previously, the inventor advocated doing eight reps for each stretch. The developer, Aaron Mattes, has returned to his original theory. The ideal number of repetitions to do for each stretch is eight reps, not six.
I intend to change this on my two videos. Until I make this video edit, please note this change when you are practicing the exercises.

Quick pain relief tip:

Go to the juice bar at your local health food store.
Juice one or two ounces of ginger. And drink it.
Its very spicy. Its hard to drink. But its a natural anti-inflammatory agent. Within 30 seconds you should feel a decrease in your pain level.
This isn't going to cure the problem but its going to provide immediate relief, whether its your back, hip, neck, shoulder...
The main goal of resolving physical pain is to end inflammation. When muscles are tight and restricted, they are inflamed. Inflammation is a primary cause of pain.

AIS exercises will provide a long-term solution to reducing inflammation. Drinking ginger juice shots will provide a short-term solution towards reducing inflammation.
You can do both every day or as needed.

Active Isolated Stretching is the most beneficial treatment for Parkinson's disease. Scientists still do not understand the causes of Parkinson's, but the negative effects are visible. Parkinson's disease attacks the muscular system. It causes muscular rigidity throughout the body.

Physicians are doing an injustice to Parkinson's patients by continually looking at prescribed medication to shrink inflammation in Parkinson's disease patients.

Its up to individuals to look beyond traditional care when its not working to acceptable standards.

Parkinson's patients need to find a way to incorporate AIS treatment into their care plan.

The AIS practitioner is going to spend multiple hours unwinding the muscles, bringing life back into a stiffening body.
The positive effects of AIS on a Parkinson's patient are noticeable within three to five treatment sessions. And in many cases, sooner than that.

The straight arm chest stretch (officially known as horizontal abduction extension) is the most important upper body stretch for neck issues. Why? Because its the first exercise in the sequence of exercises. Neck pain starts with opening up the chest muscles. This point is not recognized by most health care professionals. I do this self-stretch every day. Whenever, I feel tension in my neck, this is the first thing that I'll do for myself. I might not get to do the entire sequence of upper body exercises, but I always do this one.

The pay-to-view videos are now available on my website. There's two. One focuses on the upper body - neck and shoulders. The other focuses on the lower body - low back, knees, legs. Once the video is purchased, you can watch it immediately on my website. And you can re watch it as many times as you want by logging in at "Member's login" on the website.

Two second stretch basics: The need for the rope in AIS.

If you want to do AIS self stretching for the lower body, then you need an eight foot rope. Some tall people will want a nine foot rope. A rope like the one I show in the video is important for resolving low back issues, knee pain, tightness in the legs, and more.

http://resolveyourpain.com In order to stretch optimally, we need to put our bodies in a position where the muscles are relaxed. For many lower body exercise...

Several people have written to me asking for help with their neck pain issues. Many of these people live far away from the United States. I created the instructional video series with you in mind. You will be able to watch the instructional video and learn how to do exercises from your home that will help you with your pain issues. I'm using a new technology to broadcast the videos through my website. That's why its been taking a long time to make them available. They might be ready for viewing this week.

Keep your shoulders back. That is key for a healthy neck and low back. For this reason, rowing, rowing type exercises, and backstroke swimming are very helpful in getting the shoulders to stay back.

I've been very busy making new videos. I'm coming out with an instructional series. And I will be adding new youtube videos. Its been really hard work! That's why there haven't been many new posts. But good stuff is coming soon.

In response to Robbie D.'s question, "What is your definition of an advanced AIS practitioner?"

A skilled AIS practitioner is someone that believes AIS treatment can resolve physical pain and dysfunction issues that continue to perplex physicians and surgeons.

The key indicator of a dedicated AIS therapist is the duration of the session. The true AIS session is multiple hours. Two hours minimum. And commonly three or four hours per session. Assuming this criteria as a benchmark for successful AIS procedure, then it automatically eliminates 90% of all therapists that have ever studied Active Isolated Stretching and Strengthening. Of the tens of thousands of people that have learned AIS, how many practitioners are conducting multiple hour sessions? About eighty. In fact, that number may be as low as twenty.

The majority of people that have studied AIS return to their communities and let the client dictate this essential issue. Instead of the session being multiple hours, the session becomes one hour. When the margins are closed in like this, now AIS therapy is only beneficial for people that already enjoy a high level of physical health.

Therapists are afraid of losing their clients as return customers. That's a major reason why they don't insist on longer sessions. But true AIS practice is about resolving problems and letting the client leave because their problem has been solved.

If you meet a potential client with significant physical limitations and you tell them that the treatment will only bring about desired results with multiple hour sessions, then yes you will repel some people.

Aaron Mattes, the developer of AIS, has said: "All you need is six people to believe in you, and you will have a successful practice." That doesn't mean that those same six people will be forever clients. They will be grateful for the results and they will tell their friends and family. And a new group of people will come in looking to resolve their chronic pain issues through proper AIS protocol.

Thousands of therapists have taken a four day course in Active Isolated Stretching and Strengthening. There's about 80 practitioners that know AIS well. There's only 20 advanced practitioners of Active Isolated Stretching. The majority being in the United States. One or two in Europe and Asia. One in Hawaii.

Alexander technique for Parkinson's disease?

Alexander technique can help some people improve light postural problems. And Alexander technique might be good for healthy actors improve their performance by feeling lighter - creating an ease of movement.
But Alexander technique benefitting Parkinson's disease patients is an exaggeration. Alexander technique is a light and subtle bodywork modality. Parkinson's disease is about hardened muscles that have become so rigid that people cannot function in basic tasks and movements.
Be very suspicious of an Alexander technique practitioner that tells a Parkinson's disease patient that she will see a significant improvement after twenty sessions.

Active Isolated Stretching and Strengthening therapy is able to resolve many physical pain ailments and diseases that perplex physicians and surgeons.
A true AIS session is multiple hours. Two hours minimum. Many serious cases will take three or four hours per session.
AIS works by peeling away layers of dysfunctional muscles. The top layers come first. Then after the dominant muscles are treated, the smaller muscles that are deeper in the joint are rehabilitated. These smaller muscles, deep inside the body, are the cause of the problem, but we can't reach these areas until the top layers are fully rehabilitated. That's why the AIS session takes multiple hours.

I don't believe that yoga is sufficient treatment for serious back pain cases. And there is a risk of further aggravating the problem because the stretches are held too long. But if you live in India and you've been told that you need back surgery. Then I would suggest that you explore Ayurvedic medicine. You've got to do what's available in your region, if you are unable to travel to the United States.

In recent years India has transformed from an agricultural society to an emerging industrial nation. This has been an economic lift to large masses of people. However, it brings about its own problems. All of a sudden, millions of Indian people are spending 8 to 12 hours sitting at their desk. This has been a root cause for a huge upswing in low back pain cases. Herniated discs, degenerative discs, and other back pain maladies are on the rise in India. Doctors in India were unprepared for this epidemic. And the suggested course of treatment is usually surgery. There's a need for AIS treatment in India. I'm sorry to inform you that no one is available just yet.

L4, L5 massage? This is referring to lengthening the psoas muscle. The psoas muscle cannot be properly lengthened by massage. Too many attachments. Its got to be opened through assisted therapeutic stretching.
