Lymphedema in the News Constantly providing updates to what is happening in the world of Lymphedema. While my focus is on We are all here to learn from one another.

A site to keep informed about the progressions made in legislation regarding Lymphedema issues, as well as lymphedema in general terms as well. Perhaps, it is that we need to get new information out there to help really educate people about what lymphedema is and is not, requiring advocacy from everyone involved -- patients, doctors, medical community, etc. Some products, methods/ideas may be sugg

ested that may or may not be conducive to lipedema/lymphedema/lymphoma patients; however, take those products with the grain of salt and an indicator of other products feeling the pressure to make more things conducive for use by this community of underserved patients. Also, they may be suggested for those that can't get to a doctor immediately and may need to try something in order to respond to an issue rather to completely ignore and not respond at all. Do your own research though; if you find something in medical journals that the posted item is counter-productive and hazzardous to the the health of the patient, feel free to post medical journal articles that specifically counter that product, method and/or idea.

JIC you haven't seen this, please take a look at this. This ACT was passed in December 2022; but we need to make sure that we are heard in what the final output looks like beginning in January 2024.

The Proposed Rule that will outline coverage details for the implementation of the Lymphedema Treatment Act will soon be available. The rules will specify th...

We need your help!

Attention Residents of CT-03 - Your Representative, Rosa DeLauro, is the Chair of the House Appropriations Committee, and as such plays an important role in putting together the year-end omnibus package I just emailed you about.

PLEASE call her office TODAY and ask her to make sure the Lymphedema Treatment Act is included! The phone number is 202-225-3661.

Simply say the following:

“I am a constituent calling to ask Representative DeLauro to please make sure that the Lymphedema Treatment Act, which is bill H.R.3630, be included in the year-end package. This bill was passed by the House last month with over 400 votes, and has 74 Senate cosponsors. This issue is important to me because… ”

If the call goes to voice mail, leave a message that includes your name and zip code.

YOUR CALL is crucial, because we have very few members in Rep DeLauro's district, so it's extremely important that her office hears from you.

This is a make or break moment for getting the Lymphedema Treatment Act passed this year. Thank you!

I'm so excited to be able to share this news. We've been working on the passage of this for over a decade and we are so close that we can smell victory being around the corner; however, we need your help to keep contacting your legislators in order to make sure that this goes 100% across the finish line. Check the LTA website for more details on how you can help!!

Call to action!!!

Received in email today..

Dear Kathryn,

What an incredible start — 54 Senators from both sides of the aisle joined together to reintroduce the Lymphedema Treatment Act yesterday afternoon, and it was all thanks to the outpouring of calls from constituents!

If one or both of your Senators is marked as an “Original Cosponsor” below,
or if you are a constituent of one of our lead sponsors, Maria Cantwell (D-WA) and
Chuck Grassley (R-IA), we have one more very important ask of you right now —
PLEASE take just 2 minutes to call and say thank you.

I cannot stress enough how important this is. As an office told me yesterday, “Thank-you calls make our day! They remind us why we are here and make us want to work even harder. Plus, we rarely get them, so it really means a lot when we do!”

These Original Cosponsors have taken a big and important first step, but it is just that, a first step. Now we need them to get our bill through the Senate and signed into law. Your thank-you calls will not only show your appreciation, but also encourage and inspire them to take the next steps.

And, if one or both of your Senators aren't supporting the bill yet don't worry. They can still join as regular cosponsors starting next week. Every office has a different process for reviewing bills, and some just take longer than others, or need to hear from a greater number of constituents.

Thank you for your tremendous advocacy — our voices were heard!
