Today the CUW SLP second year graduate students in our Indigo cohort had the opportunity to learn from and engage in problem solving with Dr Meghan Watry-Christian, OT faculty here in the CUW School of Health Professions. What a blessing to engage in interprofessional education and perspective sharing preparing for interprofessional practice.

Unlock Your Value With Data: Did you know that multidisciplinary care involving SLPs can have a profound impact on health-related outcomes, like G-tube placement, in children with feeding and swallowing disorders? Research shows that treatments involving an SLP reduce G-tube dependency in 22%-90% of children, with an average cost savings of $40,000-$365,000 per child.

This National Month, download ASHA’s Pediatric Feeding and Swallowing Disorders Fact Sheet to learn more. Share with families, administrators, payers, and other health professionals to show the value that SLPs bring to the table. https://at.asha.org/Gn

What a fantastic day at the CUW Evidence in Practice Interprofessional Symposium!

CUW Graduate Speech-Language Pathology students absolutely shined—presenting strong, evidence-based research and beautifully crafted posters. Their topics ranged from school-based feeding and swallowing, to service delivery models, teletherapy effectiveness, and supporting students who stutter. Each one brought professionalism, poise, and a deep commitment to client-centered care.

It was inspiring to see these future clinicians speak with clarity, respect, and passion for their work. They represented our field with excellence seamlessly alongside OT, PT, and DMS colleagues.

We are proud of their efforts and excited for the impact they will continue to make!
