Weight stigma would have us believe that weight loss is the magic cure to improve body image. But we’ve found that not to be the case.

Remember that weight stigma (along with diet culture) is rooted in oppression! Weight loss will never be “enough” and the negative stories we’re told about our bodies and ourselves don’t just disappear as the number changes on the scale.

So what can you do:

❓Ask yourself “What will this give me?”

💬Be honest about how you’re feeling

đŸ©·Be kind to yourself! You’re not “failing” body image or body positivity.

Do you ever tell yourself you should be “past” your desire to lose weight?

Maybe you’ve been on an anti-diet, intuitive eating journey for a while, and you can logically talk back to the parts of your brain that want to pursue weight loss


đŸ•·ïžbut the thoughts still creep in.

It’s. Not. Your. Fault.

💜It’s normal to feel grief that you can’t access certain spaces, brands, or activities.

💜It’s normal to feel lonely and/or tempted by the incessant weight loss messaging.

💜It’s normal to ask yourself “what’s the point” when people you trusted not to model weight loss publicize their decision to intentionally lose weight (for whatever reason!)

We’re not here to judge what anyone else chooses to do with their body. We are here to tell you that you’re not alone and there are people who get it đŸ™‹â€â™€ïž
