It’s been awhile since I posted! But I finally got around to making another one! I have decided to train for the Lincoln half marathon in May 😬. I am incorporating lots of single leg strengthening but this one is a good one!! Especially for the pelvic floor. Just like anything there are two sides to the pelvic floor and it likes to be trained single sided to address for any compensation patterns.

Single leg step downs:
✨Glute medius strengthening
✨Single leg balance
✨Focusing on core control and mid foot control!
✨Eccentric strengthening

As you can see my balance isn’t the greatest and my left was much harder than my right! Try it out and see where your body may need some help.

Are you training the transverse plane? 🤔
Most workouts move forward/backward (squats, lunges) or up/down (deadlifts, presses). But life? 👉 It happens in the transverse plane—aka rotation!

Think about rolling over in bed, turning to grab your kid, swinging a golf club, or even walking. Your pelvic floor + deep core thrive when you can stabilize and move through rotation.

💡 Training the transverse plane helps:
✨ Build stronger core stability
✨ Improve balance + coordination
✨ Reduce risk of leaks with movement
✨ Make everyday twists + turns feel effortless

So if your workouts are missing rotation, your pelvic floor might be missing out too.

🔄 Try adding moves like:
• Pallof Press (anti-rotation)
• Rotational chops/lifts
• Seated trunk rotations

Your core isn’t just about crunches—it’s about handling movement from every direction.

Being able to hinge through your hips is a game-changer for your pelvic floor!

Here’s why
👉 When you bend from your hips (not just your low back), you keep pressure off your spine and pelvic floor.
👉 A strong hip hinge helps your glutes do their job—which means less strain on your core and pelvic floor.
👉 It’s the foundation for so many movements: squats, lifting, picking up your kiddo, even just leaning forward at the sink.

🔹If you’re have difficulty performing put a foam roller in front of knee or back both knees up to a chair and keep them there to give you that tactile cuing.

I am a pelvic floor physical therapist, but more than that—I’m someone who truly cares about helping you become the person you’re striving to be.
