Benefits of Breastfeeding at Clarksville Midwifery!

1. Nutrient-Rich Bonding:
Breastfeeding goes beyond nourishment, creating a rich bond between you and your little one. The unique blend of nutrients supports their growth and development.

2. Immune Support:
Breast milk is a powerhouse of immune-boosting elements, providing your baby with a strong defense against infections and illnesses.

3. Postpartum Healing:
For mothers, breastfeeding aids in postpartum healing by promoting uterine contractions, helping to reduce bleeding and return the uterus to its pre-pregnancy size.

4. Emotional Connection:
The act of breastfeeding builds a deep emotional connection between you and your baby, fostering a sense of security and comfort.

5. Tailored Nutrition:
Your breast milk adapts to your baby's changing needs, offering tailored nutrition at every stage of their development.

6. Reduced Allergies and Asthma:
Breastfeeding has been linked to a lower risk of allergies and asthma in infants, providing long-term health benefits.

At Clarksville Midwifery, we're here to support and guide you on this incredible breastfeeding journey, embracing the holistic benefits it brings to both mom and baby.

From Doula to adding in Midwifery. It’s been 7 years since I enrolled the first time at SWTC for the midwifery program. I’m excited to share that I’m officially enrolled in classes and will be starting with the 2024 cohort in January.

What does this mean for me as a doula?

I will still take limited clients throughout school. If you’re considering a doula for your birth, reach out as soon as possible to guarantee my availability. ❤️ I have recommendations for other doulas as well! 🤗

Eating is so important in labor. ❤️

Eating and drinking during childbirth can be a game-changer. It's all about keeping your energy up and staying hydrated. Having small, easy-to-digest snacks and sips of water can help you power through the endurance test of labor. When you're well-nourished and hydrated, you'll have the strength to handle contractions and stay focused. Plus, it can even help with managing pain.

Why is making a birth plan SOO important??
Because you have options!
And YOU are in charge of your birth!

-Fear is NOT a good motivator
-Fear instills anxiety and doubt
-DON'T give fear the power to dictate your decisions

I want you to feel the most prepared and confident in your birth plan so that your choices are intentional and based off of your personal preferences- instead of being based off of fear.

I love this chart because it tells you your due MONTH! Yes, there is a whole month where you are very likely to give birth, between 38-42 weeks. You are not 'over due because you didn't give birth right at 40 weeks.

When people ask “when’s your due date?” You can just say ”Sometime in May” or “around early July” without giving the precise date.
Why?
Because this way, your friends and family won’t become so hyper focused on your due date which keeps them from overly texting or calling wondering if you have had your baby yet.

CHA CHA CHANGES!!!!

Diaper changes that is! Did you know the act of wiping your baby during a diaper change can stimulate more…..evacuations? It’s a good idea to have a diaper ready to go under your baby’s bottom while you’re wiping just in case your newborn decides to release even more!
