California Disability Services Association

California Disability Services Association CDSA members provide services and support to over 65,000 Californians with developmental disabilities and their families each year.

The mission of California Disability Services Association (CDSA) is to advocate for and strengthen member organizations and to ensure public and government support of services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Each member organization works in its local community to improve the lives and opportunities for people with developmental disabilities. By advocating for appropri

News coverage from FOX40 reporter Noah Anderson on yesterday's Keep the Promise Rally at the State Capitol. Thank you to Jordan Lindsey at The Arc of California, Barry Jardini at California Disability Services Association and Russell Rawlings of California Foundation for Independent Living Centers for speaking with the media about this historic time for individuals with disabilities and their families. Any federal or state cuts in funding for disability services and supports will be harmful to our community.

CDSA, the Lanterman Coalition, and other community partners, are calling on state and federal policymakers to uphold the promise of the Lanterman Act. The services and supports that Californians with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families rely on are facing budget reductions at the state level. Services are under even greater threat due to potential federal Medicaid cuts. The IDD community is rallying TOMORROW with a clear message to elected officials: Keep The Promise, protect funding for disability services!

We hope Congressional leaders across California hear this message by Edward Hershey, CEO at Home of Guiding Hands and CDSA Board member, loud and clear:

"So to our elected officials, I say this: When you vote to reduce Medicaid funding, you’re not just cutting dollars — you are cutting into lives. Into futures. Into the promise of inclusion and equity that we, as a society, claim to uphold.

Protect Medicaid. Stand with people with disabilities and their families. And choose compassion over cuts. Because how we treat our most vulnerable defines who we are."

Californians with disabilities, their families, and communities are hanging in the balance.

As the CEO of Home of Guiding Hands, I oversee an organization that supports more than 5,000 children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) across San Diego and Imperial…

CDSA was proud to honor Assemblymember Stephanie Nguyen with our Legislative Leadership Award this week at our Legislative Affairs Conference. The award was presented by her constituent and CDSA member Joe Jacquez, Executive Director at Elk Grove Adult Community Training. During the event, the Assemblymember shared her hopes for her daughter with special needs and for all Californians with disabilities.
