LONG update!
Blake and I made it home safely around 3:15 yesterday afternoon. I’m so incredibly proud of how hard he worked in the short two weeks he was there. He accomplished SO MUCH!!! Every goal he set for himself, set met!!!
1) wash his own clothes
2) make his bed
3) he cooked shrimp fettuccine and learned how to maneuver around the kitchen. We learn things we need to get the make things more adaptable.
4) and the biggest and most important goal of all!!! HE TOOK HIS FIRST STEPS!!!!
Next step is to go see Dr. Lowe in the morning to get his local script for his custom KFO’s. He has an appointment with Hangar Clinic Thursday morning for his custom fitting. This once they come in he will work extremely hard with his therapy with his AMAZING therapists at Bright Steps Therapy to get stronger and stronger at walking!! His PT at TIRR said he will eventually walk with arms crutches and even a cane!!!! PRAISE GOD!!!! 🙌💪 He is continuing to HEAL Blake and one day he WILL walk without the assistance of anything!!! 💪🙌❤️
We were only there a short amount of time and he was working so hard. We didn’t get a lot of pictures. But let me tell you this. Blake is WELL known and loved by EVERYONE at TIRR!!! From the men and women who work in the cafeteria and grill, the housekeepers, the gift shop worker, the security guard, the unit secretarys, the social workers, case managers, child life specialists, the therapy assistants, the drs, nurses and all the OT’s and PT’s!!! They are TRULY family!!
Blake was sad he didn’t get to tell everyone bye this time, as was I. But we will see them again when we come back from our yearly checkup. They have seen him come so far. They are all so proud of him!! They all have made me promise to send videos of him walking across the stage getting his diploma. And I will!!
I also meet a few families this time. The first there were families that were inspirations to me and were great resources. It was such a joy that God used me to help other families this time and to give back. Please pray for these families and all families at TIRR. This journey isn’t for the weak. It’s hard, but by the Grace of God he gives us strength to get through each day. He is healing our loved ones!!
Someone commented on one of my TIkTok videos to do a story time on Blake’s accident. I haven’t shared too much on that platform. I will do that there. But I think I will do a story time here on our time at TIRR and how our TIRR family means to us. And how God has had his hand in every step of the way.
Thank you again for all of your prayers!! Please keep them coming as Blake continues to work hard!! We love you all dearly!!
