Our Story

The Inclusion Collective Association is a U.S.-based non-profit organization that partners with organizations in areas of the world that that have a self-desired focus on deinstitutionalization and supporting community-based alternatives. We work directly with families, service providers of children and adults with disabilities, and most importantly with individuals directly using Person-Centered Practices. We recognize that there are uniquely individualized opportunities and obstacles for individuals seeking to avoid orphanages or institutions due to a lack of resources to support families and smaller individualized settings. We directly advocate and support self-advocacy on governmental, family, and community levels to effect change in supporting community-based alternatives. We believe all individuals require love and care from others in order to learn healthy emotional attachment. Psychiatric and sociological studies have documented the loss of social functioning and “learned helplessness” created by institutional placement. Institutions and segregated services lack the ability to provide the necessary care for children and adults with disabilities and are considered quite harmful living situations due to a variety of causes.

The Inclusion Collective recognizes the need for training and supports worldwide to move from institutional and segregated care to more family oriented and community based models. We have a wide range of service and training experience in multiple countries including The United States, Haiti, India, Ukraine and others. This organization puts an emphasis on the support of children and adults with complex intellectual disabilities, or multiple disabilities, to be included in their communities and express choice and independence. The supports provided by Inclusion Collective include but are not limited to advocacy and trainings with partner agencies in order to achieve a shared objective. We offer individualized supports & training through specialists’ partners in the areas of:

  • • Physical Therapy

  • • Speech & Language Pathology
