This photo of this Christmas Cactus bloom ready to let go of the tensiveness holding it so tightly to push forward with fullness is from a plant I have had for about ten years. It's the only one I've had that blooms year after year with the most incredible color and soooo many flowers. Every year I await the outpouring of these fuschia delicacies. I have hundreds of photos from every angle I can manage. There is something about this particular one, this photo that provides every minute detail of this flower, its skin breathes peace and beauty; its color shines as satin. I feel close to this piece of nature that teaches me about love, about joy, about grace.
This experience motivates me to see beauty in everything. It is always there. This flower becomes my prompt and I write a simple haiku.

Good evening one and all! I am sitting in peace and contemplation, preparing for our SoulWriting class and looking at this incredible photograph! What a sunrise! It's Jacksonville Beach; it was taken a few weeks ago by my youngest son, JonT Griggs. I feel it exemplifies the enormous, sacred beauty and spirit of Nature; of Mother Earth; of God; of the Universe. I wrote the haiku as an offering to this awesome phenomenon. I'm sharing this with you.

You know everything can become a prompt. Photos in your phone...an experience in your car at a stop light...a poem you might come across...a meditation...a snuggle session with your fur baby... and if I did continue on and on, I could write forever. All of your life is a prompt; sometimes prompts appear; sometimes you have to look for a prompt. Challenge yourself to see what treasures are your prompts, what prompts are your treasures; give yourself the gift, the time, the grace to write. Give yourself the possibility of power, of courage, of discovery, of love. Write! Write! Write!

We have only one week to act, and your voice is crucial. The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) has announced public meetings statewide on Tuesday, August 27th, at 3 p.m. Unfortunately, these meetings will not include a question-and-answer session, and time for public comment will be very limited.

What's at Stake:

The proposed changes include developing golf courses, pickleball courts, and resort-style hotels within several state parks. These plans are in direct conflict with Florida state law (FS 258.037), which guides the Division of Recreation and Parks. The following parks will be affected:

Jonathan Dickinson State Park (Martin County)
Anastasia State Park (St. Johns County)
Topsail Hill Preserve State Park (Walton County)
Camp Helen State Park (Bay County)
Grayton Beach State Park (Walton County)
Hillsborough River State Park (Hillsborough County)
Honeymoon Island State Park (Pinellas County)
Dr. Von Mizell – Eula Johnson State Park (Broward County)
Oleta River State Park (Miami-Dade County)
