Our hearts are broken as we end this chapter of our lives. I was 13 yrs. old in 1981 when my mom, Linda Nelson started M’lis. Along with my siblings, Wallace and Angela, I grew up with this company. We were either home alone, or on the road with mom. We all worked here; our kids worked here. M’lis is not just a business, but part of the tapestry of our lives. I could take up space and recount the insurmountable roadblocks put in our way over the past several years…. This post could talk about government regulations and raw material costs and post-COVID consumer behaviors. This is not what I want to focus on now. What I want to highlight is my amazing mother and the unique businesswoman she is.
I remember as a child, my mom was so sick. She found a way holistically to detox and heal her ailing body. She was filled with passion to spread this knowledge to others who struggled and who were let down by conventional medicine. Her message of lifestyle behaviors and pure ingredients was spread in a genuine, personal way. There was no internet, no SEO helping her. The message was spread by relationships…face to face contact, lots of travel, in person trainings and hundreds of phone calls. Employees became family. Accounts became dear friends. She LOVED her work, and she loves her people. You are her people. She would say, “love people well.” You are her people because you are doing this very thing.
Believe me, there have been many sleepless nights, tears and lots of ‘what-ifs’. This is not the ending we wanted. The message we want to share is we are cheering you on in this work. We want you to be successful ‘loving people well.’
Change is so hard. I have so many memories of you…lots of trainings, retreats, President’s Club, hikes, dinners, events. To every educator, every employee, account, President’s Club member, Feature Account…. we love you and will always cherish the personal time and shared vision we have had with you.
