The holidays are an exciting and busy season full of shopping trips, gifts, and quality time with loved ones. Make sure the memories your family makes are fun, festive AND safe with these four tips:

👉🏼 Mindful Gifting: Research gifts your children receive to make sure they are age-appropriate, especially with new devices or technology. Make sure to review any safety labels.

👉🏼 Practice Body Safety: While gathering with family and friends, follow body safety rules. Remind children they can choose who enters their personal bubble, and they can say “no, thank you!” if they do not want to be touched. Go over which body parts are private, and who to talk to if they feel uncomfortable or icky.

👉🏼 Device Check-In: Secure any new or existing devices by activating privacy settings and parental controls to protect your child’s information and ensure age-appropriate content. Review content of devices and look out for any hidden apps or accounts.

👉🏼 Stay Alert: Be aware in crowded stores and parking lots, reminding children of what to do in case of an emergency. Go over how to spot red flags, and what to do if they get separated from you.

As we are deep in the Holiday Season and we reflect on this past year, we are constantly reminded of the people within our Community who support the children of Scotty's House with their time, talent and treasure. We did it! ✨ Through our STAR Program, we officially helped over 34 families here in the Brazos Valley and ensured that 110 children will have Christmas presents.

We have been absolutely blown away by the generosity that our Supporters have shown this season, not only for our families here at Scotty's House, but Angel Trees throughout our Community. We are so proud to be able to help provide joy and happiness during this Holiday Season. 🎄 THANK YOU!

We had an awesome Volunteer Appreciation Winter Social Night! ❄️ Our incredible volunteers got to enjoy an evening with a hot chocolate bar, goodies, and facility tours.

Our Volunteer Coordinator, Cas, Volunteer Leader, Ava, and Community Educator, Lilly, did an awesome job hosting the evening and helping us celebrate all the special volunteers who help us provide the services and love needed here at Scotty's House.

‘Tis the season! 🎅🏻 Connect with loved ones over the holidays with these fun family activities you can do right at home! This season is a great opportunity to share simple joys and build open, trusting relationships with your kiddos.

• Carpet “Picnic” with a Movie: Lay out some blankets and cozy up in your pajamas for a festive film!
• Gratitude notes to Friends and Family: Write cards for loved ones with encouragement and tell them why you are thankful for them!
• Hot Chocolate Bar: Prepare hot cocoa from the box, or make your own. Set out toppings like marshmallows, crushed candy canes, sprinkles, and more chocolate!
• Make Blankets to Donate: Search “no knit blanket” on Youtube and easily craft a cozy gift for your home, or to donate!
• Craft a Garland: Collect leaves and pinecones outside to create a DIY garland. Add popcorn and cranberries for a pop of color!
• Cookie Decorating Contest: Bake some simple sugar cookies, then let cool and put your frosting (and sprinkles) skills to the test!

Wow! A big THANK YOU to Santa's Wonderland- A Texas Christmas Experience! Through their Cocoa for a Cause, $25,000 was raised for Scotty's House. Our team always enjoys getting to be part of such a festive event that is rooted in giving back to its community!
