Wishing all my Friends, Family, Colleagues, and Clients, a Rejuvenating ! “恭喜发财” (Gong Xi Fa Cai)! Happy Chinese New Year!

It's 2025 in the Gregorian calendar and the year 4722 in the Chinese calendar.
The Snake is the sixth animal in the zodiac cycle and an important motif in Chinese mythology. If you were born in 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001 or 2013, you are traditionally associated with traits like intuition, wisdom, slyness and charm and may be blessed with a high IQ and sense of style. The year is also referred to as a "little dragon year" and is considered to be a time for reflection and skin shedding – a metaphor for personal growth and self-care, passion, and transformation.
While my Mother was Chinese, emigrating from Shanghai, my Father was Indonesian, emigrating from Java. In Indonesia, where millions of people have Chinese ancestry, crowds already gathered in his birth city of Semarang to listen to drummers and watch dragon/snake puppet dances, placing red envelopes (hóngbāo) filled with money into the puppet’s mouth. The color red is quite prominent in these celebrations, as it symbolizes good luck and prosperity.
Now, I am a proud First Generation Asian American celebrating this thousands of years old tradition.

Twenty-four years of patient advocacy has taught me something profound in 2024: Transformation happens at the intersection of innovation and empathy.

This year wasn't just about clinical milestones—it was about bridging gaps, amplifying voices, and proving that "doing good" and "doing well" aren't competing goals, they're interconnected missions. A few thoughts:

2024 - A YEAR OF GRATITUDE!

I know there are many others with greater stories of thanks and many more eloquently written annual sentiments than mine, but I wanted to share my pride and gratitude for being a small part of the “Community for Good” in 2024.

🙏 To those of you who volunteer your time, talent, and earnings to make Life better for people who are fighting disease, caring for family and friends, seeking better access to care, enrolling in crucial clinical trials, and finding hope in new breakthroughs, I say “Thank you!”

🙏 To those in my network and reading this who contribute to researching for new treatments, seeking clinical cures, educating about new therapies, making healthcare more equitable, and bringing the world’s innovation to those less fortunate, I say, “Thank you!”.

🙏 To everyone working at the intersection of clinical innovation and patient advocacy. Your dedication to both scientific excellence and healthcare access continues to inspire our work at biomedwoRx: Life Sciences Consulting where our mission is to help life science organizations who strive to “do good”, do well.

❣️ And to my family, who give me purpose and the compass to rise to the Challenge each and every day, I say, “I love you!”.

Earlier this year, I was graciously recognized by the Cutaneous Lymphoma Foundation in front of a convocation of professional peers, patients with cancer, and clinical luminaries for my twenty-four years of service to the Board of Directors and for my role in the early founding of this amazing patient advocacy organization that serves a global population afflicted with this rare form of Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. I couldn’t have been more humbled and grateful for this recognition.

It made my year.

Sending heartfelt thanks to all the amazing life sciences people who have been a part of my Life this year. You've each enriched my appreciation for friendships, business collaboration, and our common causes as part of the human community.
Today, we each give THANKS. In doing so, let's remember that the second word is GIVING. I hope you'll find more ways to give starting tomorrow:

> Give a helping hand to colleagues looking for employment. The clinical development world has not been kind to many in the past few months.
> Give a helping hand to patient advocacy groups who support people and families afflicted with life-threatening illnesses.
> Give a helping hand to your neighbors, your local law enforcement, fire departments, and services who keep us all safe in these uncertain times.
> Give a helping hand through volunteering to groups with whom you find a connection. You'll get so much more than you give.
> And, importantly, thank our veterans and military whenever you see them as too many are far from home this Thanksgiving protecting the very freedoms we enjoy this Season.

If you have two hands, know that one is for you and the other is to help others.

Led by multitalented host, Steven Fuller, he brought together 4 leading voices in this field to provide their unique insight, covering topics such as; the current barriers preventing those of minority groups from participating in trials and discussing themes such as; language, representation, and community engagement. We also touched upon how data plays a role and what the statistics currently tell us.
