This is the view from my window during our “Freeing the Writer from Within” retreat . Yes it’s a well and I’ve pondered the number of women and Franciscan monks who have gathered at this very spot over the past few centuries. The sanctuary was founded in the thirteenth century and is the highest point on the island. Its History is vast with a main tenet being the worship of Mother Mary as the guiding light for humanity. What a perfect place to remember my place among the family of things.

As many of you know I’ve been working on a book. It’s a humble process particularly in these fast paced times. A time in which I know I need to go slower and deeper than the world swirling around me is paced. What brought me to Mallorca is to align more deeply with this truth and to court my muse at “Freeing The Writer Within” facilitated by the beloved who has been my main support in developing my book idea and writing it. My vocation/calling is one that is inherently about honoring the quiet, the dark and the unseeable world. I am a forever student of The feminine mysteries, the biodynamics of the body, the quantum influences true to us all and the process of honoring how this alchemical fusion impacts individuals and family constellations in this particular space and time. My astrology reflects my cosmic call to speak to all of these realms and bring them to form. My skills have been honed through my own somatic knowing of the birth portal, relinquishment and loss. They have been further attuned and informed via the hundreds of births I have been invited into over the last twenty six years and the incredible gift of working beside Midwives as my primary co-workers. Im beyond grateful to not be in a rush and to align more deeply with my unique path of becoming on this magnificent island. Gratitude abounds for my family and midwife sister team for their endless and unconditional support that makes this possible. Follow along in my stories if you like 💃🏽

A year ago today…Happy Birthday Wellie May…who shares a middle name with her Midwife. 🫀 I don’t share a ton of birth photos here because honestly it’s not a priority. I mean I love a good birth photo and/or video and all that it elicits including the joy and honor of being a Midwife. The truth is midwifery, birth and ALL its representation is being commodified by the second. This statement requires many more posts, discussions and I’m writing a whole book about it so stay tuned. For now suffice it to say My focus is in the birth room and the fields of safety we co-create and the family constellations we heal. Together! In person, in connection and in a wider field of resonance then can ever be had in a 3 D representation of a 5 D and beyond process. And still I love me a good capture of this poignant moment when a human emerges, a mother reaches for her baby and they are reunited after the portal they just traversed as one. I particularly love this moment because we so often encourage/support the family to catch their own babies and the fact that I had the honor was the simple evolution of how this birth unfolded. It was our second birth together and papa caught their first. Flexible strength. Responsive nervous systems. Fields of safety. Wider visions. A few of our mantras.

I took this photo on February 4th in the midst of a deep initiatory run of births, the ongoing grief path of Kyries journey to spirit and my deepening experience of perimenopause which is nothing like all the reels or at least most of them. I’m vital and thriving with nuance and this is the point of aging and reproductive evolution is to live into nuance, to be vital and thrive with changing bones and fascia that has a seasoned voice.
I was harvesting rosemary from my kitchen garden for a clients foot bath/limpia and dried the rest. Rosemary is for remembrance and this is what I feel I do all day long as a Midwife is help folks remember. I include myself in this remembrance. The fact that I can say after twenty plus years of practice that I’ve met yet another initiatory phase feels like a gift. Being a Midwife is to not only remember the great mysteries that make us human and to hold the space for others to do the same. It is also to bow at the altar of humility over and over again. It is to know that my bones are filled with marrow that have cells infused with trauma and with exaltation just like yours and that our ability to turn one on and the other off is a practice. A practice meant to be done in community and with great care. I can’t tell you how deeply filled with gratitude I am for this life and all there is to come. I’ve only just begin to remember and so have you! I know these times are wild beyond any wild we’ve ever known. As we gather in remembrance we become what we say to all our brave hearted birthing ones, we are never safer than in the arms of the great mother. 🫀

When I opened Brigid’s Well in 2017, I knew great things would happen inside these breathable walls. We’ve been a sanctuary for our community, held countless healing ceremonies, hundreds of prenatals and postpartum visits and hosted many mentors including , , and ! I found this amazing vintage photo of our embryonic journey at The Antique Society this weekend. It felt timely because I’ve been curating a new offering that feels very close to my heart and echoes the stages of becoming human that we all experience. The offering is called “Emerging Conversations in Midwifery: A conscious circle of dialogue for aspiring and new birth workers”!
A six week container for folks seriously interested in listening to their souls calling and answering it through becoming a midwife in all her many guises. Whether it’s through the age old apprenticeship model, a licensure track or radical birth keeping , we come together to listen and to pay attention to the heart of it all which is to be in service to the holiness of this precious human birth.
