I’VE REALIZED I’M NEVER GOING TO REACH MY CAREER GOALS—HOW DO I COPE?

Realizing that a career or business dream may never happen can feel like a loss—and it is. This moment can trigger grief, self-doubt and even depression. But it does not have to define the rest of your life.

Common Signs You’re Struggling:
• Persistent sadness, regret or hopelessness
• Difficulty finding motivation or purpose
• Irritability or withdrawal from relationships
• Trouble sleeping or constant fatigue

Healthy Ways to Cope:
• Acknowledge the Loss: Suppressing emotions
only prolongs pain.
• Redefine Success: Shift focus to new, attainable
goals that still bring meaning.
• Seek Support: Therapy can help you process
disappointment and rebuild confidence.
• Consider Medication: If depression or anxiety
symptoms interfere with daily functioning, short-
term medication may help while you adjust.
• Stay Connected: Surround yourself with people
who value you beyond your career achievements.
• Invest In Yourself Outside Of Career: Exercise,
nutrition, vitamin supplementation, sleep hygiene,
hobbies you have delayed.

A 2018 study in Journal of Vocational Behavior found that reframing unachieved career goals and setting alternative life goals significantly improved emotional well-being and life satisfaction (Wrosch et al., 2018).

Your worth is not tied to one dream.
This chapter may be ending, but your story is not over.

VITAMIN D: THE SUNSHINE VITAMIN YOUR BRAIN NEEDS

Vitamin D does more than support bone health — it plays a critical role in mental health and mood regulation. Many people, especially those living in colder climates or spending most of their time indoors, are unknowingly deficient.

Signs of Vitamin D Deficiency:

• Fatigue or low energy
• Depressed mood or irritability
• Muscle weakness or joint pain
• Frequent illness or slow healing

Low vitamin D levels have been linked to increased risk of depression, anxiety and cognitive decline.

Supplementation, when supervised by a healthcare provider, can significantly improve both mental and physical well-being.

Treatment Options:
• Blood test to check current vitamin D levels
• Daily or weekly supplements (D3 is typically
preferred)
• Lifestyle changes: increased sun exposure,
dietary adjustments of vitamin D-rich foods

A 2020 meta-analysis in Nutritional Neuroscience found that individuals with depression experienced significant symptom improvement with vitamin D supplementation, especially when combined with standard mental health treatments (Vellekkatt & Menon, 2020).

Your brain needs more than rest, it needs the right nutrients.

Contact us for thorough laboratory and genetic testing, including a vitamin D level analysis as part of your mental wellness plan and access to the highest quality vitamin D supplementation.

THE NEUROSCIENCE OF THE BRAIN AT DEATH — A DEEPER LOOK INTO LOSS, GRIEF & HEALING

As the body nears death, the mind undergoes a unique process — often described as a quiet detachment. Research suggests that in the final moments, brain activity spikes briefly, possibly reflecting vivid memories or a dreamlike review of life. Some describe clarity, peace or seeing loved ones. For those left behind, this offers a small comfort: death may not be chaotic, but a deeply human experience.

But for the living, the emotional aftermath can feel anything but peaceful. Grief comes in waves — shock, sadness, guilt, anger or even numbness. It is not linear and has no set timeline.

Common Signs of Complicated Grief:
• Persistent sadness or inability to accept the loss
• Withdrawal from life or relationships
• Sleep issues, loss of appetite or health decline
• Intense longing or intrusive memories

Treatment & Support Options:
• Grief therapy or support groups provide space for
healing
• CBT or trauma-informed psychotherapy can help
process unresolved emotions
• Medication may be used short-term for
depression, anxiety or insomnia

A 2020 study in Frontiers in Psychology confirmed that early emotional support reduces long-term mental health impact after loss (Currier et al., 2020).

Grief is love with nowhere to go — but healing gives it direction.

WORK HOURS & MENTAL HEALTH: WHEN THE GRIND GOES TOO FAR

Long or mismanaged work hours can slowly erode your mental health. The “always-on” hustle culture leads to chronic stress, burnout and emotional exhaustion — especially when rest and balance are sacrificed.

Warning Signs:
• Constant fatigue — even after sleep
• Irritability, anxiety or mood swings
• Trouble focusing or feeling detached at work
• Insomnia or physical symptoms like headaches

How to Protect Your Mental Health:
• Set boundaries — log off at a consistent time and
protect personal time
• Prioritize tasks using time-blocking or the 80/20
rule
• Take micro-breaks throughout the day to reset
your brain
• Psychotherapy or Business/Executive Coaching
can help restructure habits and manage work-
related anxiety
• Medication may be helpful for stress-induced
sleep or mood issues
• Lifestyle Changes: sleep hygiene, vitamin
supplementation, exercise, proper nutrition

A 2021 study in Occupational Medicine found that individuals working over 55 hours per week had significantly higher rates of depression and anxiety than those with balanced schedules (Virtanen et al., 2021).

Working hard should not mean falling apart.
Your mind matters as much as your paycheck.

FRIENDSHIP IS MENTAL HEALTH: STAY CONNECTED, STAY WELL

Friendships are more than just social perks—they are essential to emotional stability, stress resilience, and overall mental health. When friendships fade, mental wellness often follows.

Signs You May Be Socially Disconnected:
• Feeling lonely or emotionally drained
• Withdrawing from friends or avoiding plans
• Increased irritability, sadness, or anxiety
• Loss of motivation or self-worth

Strong friendships provide validation, perspective, and support in tough times. Without them, you’re more vulnerable to depression, anxiety, and burnout.

How to Rebuild and Protect Social Health:
• Prioritize quality over quantity—one solid friend
beats a dozen surface-level connections.
• Reach out regularly, even if it’s just to check in.
• Talk it out—therapy can help address social
anxiety, trust issues, or fear of vulnerability.
• Set boundaries with draining relationships to
make space for nourishing ones.

A 2020 study in The American Journal of Psychiatry confirmed that strong social connections significantly reduce mental health symptoms and improve long-term well-being (Santini et al., 2020).

Friendship is not optional—it’s emotional oxygen.
Make it a habit to connect.

CAREER BURNOUT: WHEN WORK DRAINS MORE THAN IT GIVES

Career burnout is more than feeling tired after a long week — it is a state of emotional, mental and physical exhaustion caused by chronic workplace stress. Left untreated, it can lead to anxiety, depression and even serious health problems.

Signs & Symptoms of Burnout:
• Constant fatigue, no matter how much you rest
• Cynicism, irritability or detachment from work
• Feeling unproductive or “checked out”
• Physical symptoms like headaches, insomnia or
digestive issues

Treatment & Recovery Options:
• Psychotherapy: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
(CBT) helps reframe stress and rebuild coping
skills.
• Medication: For anxiety or depression triggered
by burnout, SSRIs or short-term sleep aids may
help.
• Lifestyle Adjustments: Setting boundaries, taking
breaks, re-evaluating priorities are essential,
vitamin supplementation, exercise, sleep hygiene.
• Workplace Changes: Sometimes, the best
solution is restructuring your workload — or your
career path.

A 2020 study in The Lancet found that early intervention through stress management programs and psychotherapy significantly reduces the long-term impact of burnout (Salvagioni et al., 2020).

Burnout is not weakness — it is a warning sign.
Take it seriously before it takes more from you.

INTRUSIVE IN-LAWS: PROTECTING YOUR MENTAL HEALTH WITH BOUNDARIES

In-laws can be a source of love and support — or stress and tension. When they ignore boundaries, overstep in your marriage or constantly criticize your choices, it can create anxiety, resentment and strain on your relationship.

Signs of Intrusive Behavior:
• Unsolicited advice or constant criticism
• Showing up unannounced or expecting unlimited
access to your time
• Undermining your parenting or relationship
decisions
• Creating guilt or drama when boundaries are set

Left unchecked, this dynamic can lead to stress, depression and marital conflict.

How to Protect Your Well-Being:
• Set Clear Boundaries: Be direct and consistent
about what is acceptable.
• Communicate as a Team: You and your partner
should present a united front.
• Limit Contact if Needed: It is okay to create space
for your own mental health.
• Psychoherapy: Individual or couples therapy can
help strengthen communication and coping
strategies.

A 2019 study in Family Process found that healthy boundary-setting in extended families significantly reduces stress and improves marital satisfaction (Sabatelli & Shehan, 2019).

Boundaries are not rejection — they are self-respect.

THE POWER OF APPRECIATION & RESPECT IN MEN’S MENTAL HEALTH

For many men, feeling unseen, unappreciated or disrespected can quietly erode mental health. Men often tie their self-worth to providing, achieving or protecting — and when their efforts go unnoticed, it can lead to isolation, frustration and even depression.

Common Signs of Struggle in Men:
• Irritability, anger or emotional withdrawal
• Trouble sleeping or constant fatigue
• Loss of motivation or interest in relationships
and work
• Turning to alcohol, substances or risky behaviors
to cope

Why Appreciation Matters:
Being valued and respected boosts self-esteem, strengthens relationships and lowers stress. For men who rarely express emotional needs, recognition can be deeply healing.

Treatment & Support Options:
• Psychotherapy: Helps men process emotions,
improve communication, and rebuild confidence.
• Supportive Relationships: Creating safe spaces
where men feel heard and respected reduces
mental strain.
• Medication: For those experiencing depression or
anxiety, SSRIs or other treatments may help
restore balance.
• Exercise, Sleep Hygiene, Vitamin
Supplementation

A 2020 study in American Journal of Men’s Health found that strong social support and positive recognition significantly reduced depressive symptoms in men (Mahalik et al., 2020).

Men deserve to feel valued — every day.

TREATING ADHD IN HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETES: UNLOCK FOCUS, CONFIDENCE & PERFORMANCE

High school athletes with ADHD face unique challenges — balancing academics, sports and social demands while managing symptoms that can disrupt performance.

Common Signs & Symptoms in Athletes:
• Difficulty staying focused during practice or
games
• Impulsive plays or emotional outbursts
• Forgetting plays, drills, or team responsibilities
• Struggling with time management and
organization

Untreated ADHD can impact both athletic and academic success — but with the right approach, athletes can gain focus, emotional control and consistency on and off the field.

Treatment Options:
• Medication: Stimulants like methylphenidate or
non-stimulants like atomoxetine improve focus
and impulse control.
• Behavioral Strategies: Organizational tools and
structured routines enhance time management.
• Mental Skills Training: Visualization, deep
breathing/breathwork and self-talk build
confidence and calm nerves during competition.
• Collaboration with Coaches & Parents: Ensures
consistent support and understanding.

A 2019 study in Frontiers in Psychology found that athletes with treated ADHD showed improved attention, reduced impulsivity, and better performance in competitive settings (Taddei et al., 2019).

ADHD does not have to hold athletes back.
Treat the mind—and elevate the game.

MENTAL SKILLS TRAINING FOR ELITE HIGH SCHOOL TENNIS PLAYERS: WIN THE MIND, WIN THE MATCH

Tennis is as much a mental game as it is physical. For elite high school players, pressure, nerves and self-doubt can derail performance — especially in high-stakes matches.

Common Mental Challenges in Tennis Players:
• Overthinking mistakes during points
• Pre-match anxiety and fear of failure
• Losing focus after unforced errors
• Struggling to stay present in long rallies or
tiebreakers

How Mental Skills Training Helps:
• Visualization: Mentally rehearsing serves and
points builds confidence and sharpens focus
before stepping on the court.
• Breathwork & Mindfulness: Controls nerves and
improves emotional regulation in high-pressure
moments.
• Self-Talk Strategies: Reframes negative thoughts
and keeps confidence steady.
• Pre-Match Routines: Creates consistency,
reduces anxiety and prepares players to compete
at their best.

A 2020 study in International Journal of Sport and Exercise Psychology found that tennis players who used structured mental skills training reported reduced competitive anxiety and improved match performance (Gillet et al., 2020).

The strongest tennis game starts in the mind.
Train your brain like you train your body — and take control of match day.

• Persistent sadness or tearfulness
• Changes in sleep, appetite or energy
• Withdrawal from friends or activities
• Difficulty concentrating or making decisions
• Feelings of hopelessness or guilt

Treatment Options:

• Psychotherapy: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps challenge negative thinking and build coping skills.
• Medication: SSRIs like fluoxetine or sertraline can regulate mood and improve focus; Esketakime nasal spray for Treatment Resistant Depression (TR).
