I don’t want anybody in my life who won’t defend me in a room I’m not in.

Not because I need protection. I can handle things myself. But because that’s where loyalty really shows up.

Anyone can be cool to your face. Anyone can act supportive when you’re right there. What matters is what happens when your name comes up and you’re not around.

Do they correct it when the story gets twisted? Do they shut down disrespect? Or do they stay quiet because it’s easier?

Defending me doesn’t mean pretending I’m perfect or arguing with everyone. It just means not letting lies or unfair talk slide. It’s as simple as saying, “That’s not true,” or “That’s not how I see it.”

Silence in those moments isn’t neutral—it’s a choice.

I want people in my life who stay the same no matter who’s in the room. People who don’t trade my name for comfort, approval, or a seat at the table. If you say you care about me, then care enough to protect my character when I’m not there to do it myself.

Because trust is built in the unseen moments. In conversations I’ll never hear about.

And if I can’t trust you with my absence, I definitely ..... can’t trust you with my presence.
