The weather inside is frightful! 🫣

How often do you catch the voice in your head that sounds like passive helplessness?

We call that voice the Weather Reporter.

Your Weather Reporter has a lot of theories about the way things are and treats them like facts. 😳

Your Weather Reporter will leave you settling for your excuses and feeling powerless as if you have no agency and no choice.

This is the opposite of authoring.

I saw a fun, honest post about “personal growth” and it made me think of where, if anywhere, we’re being soft. I’m certainly known for a bunch of things, but subtlety isn’t one!

But, yes, we definitely teach clients how to step up and design, direct, and author their lives! And, yes, it does get colorful -- their lives and what comes out of my mouth.

Many of us avoid hard conversations because we are afraid …

✔️Afraid to share how we feel
✔️Afraid to say what we think
✔️Afraid of how the person will respond
✔️Afraid we won’t know how to communicate well
✔️Afraid we’ll have to deal with consequences for speaking up

Having hard conversations is necessary for our learning, our growth, and ultimately, our happiness.

Learning and practices these skills (vulnerability and accountability) nurtures connection, and deepens both self and relational trust.

✨Start with your heart
✨Tell the truth about what you think and how you feel with grace
✨Own your part
✨Acknowledge and apologize if you’ve made a mistake or caused harm
✨Ask for what you want
✨Get clear on what’s necessary for repair

Allow yourself to see the relationship and reality from their experience. Get curious.

This will soften you and them. We don't know what is possible but this internal shift will move you. We need more of this in the world. It starts with you.
