Dementia is not a normal part of aging.

Yes, our brains age. But Alzheimer’s and other dementias are diseases, not inevitabilities.

Here’s the powerful truth: Research suggests that up to 40% of dementia cases may be prevented or delayed with the right support and lifestyle changes.

Are you worried about a loved one’s memory? Not sure what’s normal and what might be a warning sign?

Here’s one Alzheimer's Association article I regularly share with families and fellow professionals:

When you're deep in the day-to-day: juggling meds, doctor’s appointments, emotional whiplash, and constant decision fatigue, it’s easy to think put your needs on the back burner.

But caregiving for your person living with dementia isn’t just exhausting. It’s emotionally devastating in ways most people don’t see.

You deserve a place to sort through all of that.

To feel seen. To feel heard. To have support just for you.

Hey dementia caregiver, you’ve gotten really good at holding it all together. Smiling when you're exhausted. Saying “I’m fine” when your chest is tight with anxiety. Pushing through even when you’re barely holding on.

But let’s be honest, pretending you're okay when you're not doesn’t make you stronger. It makes you feel more alone.

💬 Maybe you're worried no one would understand.
💬 Maybe you don’t want to burden others.
💬 Maybe you think there’s no time to fall apart, too much depends on you.

But you deserve space to not be okay.

You deserve support that isn’t just “let me know if you need anything.”

You deserve a break, even if just mentally, from carrying it all.

Let this post be your reminder: You don’t have to do this alone, and you’re allowed to fall apart sometimes. It doesn’t make you weak. It makes you human.

If this resonates with you, please comment a 💚!

Can we talk about how to be mindful of our words and offer compassion to our dementia caregiver friends and family?

It’s helpful to remember:
✨ Dementia caregivers don’t need advice as much as they need empathy.
✨ They don’t need solutions, they need space and support.
✨ They don’t need to be reminded of what’s “wrong.” They need to be seen for what they’re doing right.

Sometimes just simply being there is the most powerful support you can offer.

Drop a 💜 if you’re committed to being a more compassionate dementia caregiver friend.

Let’s be real: here is no one right way to be a dementia caregiver.

You’re learning in real-time, adjusting to your person’s needs, and figuring things out as you go. And guess what? That is enough.

When you became a dementia caregiver, did anyone talk about the intense feelings that happen with this role reversal?

Becoming the “parent” to your own parent is something no one prepares you for.
The decisions, the responsibilities, the emotional weight—it can feel overwhelming. You love them, but this role reversal is hard. 💔

If you’ve ever felt lost, guilty, or completely exhausted in your dementia caregiving journey, you’re not alone.

Therapy can help you process these emotions, set boundaries, and find support so you don’t have to carry this alone.

There is SO much people don’t see as you navigate through your dementia caregiver journey. 💜

They don’t see the exhaustion from sleepless nights, the heartbreak of watching memories fade, or the strength it takes to smile through the toughest days.

You are doing one of the hardest and most meaningful jobs there is.

What is something about dementia caregiving that people don’t see? Drop it in the comments. 👇
