Pines Wheat Grass

Pines Wheat Grass Website: www.wheatgrass.com The darker the green color, the more nutrition is contained in the wheatgrass. It is the only place in Kansas with glacial soil.

Charles Schnabel led a worldwide team of researchers who published scores of clinical studies that showed dehydrated wheatgrass from Northeast Kansas improved the health of all animals, including humans. These scientists' true wheatgrass used by these scientists came from plants grown outdoors during the winter in the special soils of Northeast Kansas. Because of naturally cold conditions of the f

all and winter, true wheatgrass takes months of bright sunshine to build the nutrient density discovered in the research. This slow growth in natural conditions through about 200 days of sunshine is why true wheatgrass is so much darker green than tray wheatgrass, even though they are both about the same height. Pines International has supports dozens of environmental causes and has been organic for nearly 40 years. The company has been a leader in the organic farming movement since 1976. Pines Wheat Grass was the first green superfood sold in natural food stores. Pines Wheat Grass and alfalfa products are among the few to be packaged in earth-friendly amber glass bottles, but Pines is the only company to use special metal caps that allow them to remove the oxygen from each bottle for shipment and storage in warehouses and on store shelves. The father of wheatgrass, Charles Schnabel, taught that oxygen needed to be removed from bottles of wheatgrass powder to prevent the nutrients from being devitalized. Unfortunately, other wheatgrass companies that came along after Pines copied our message but not our standards. Wheatgrass powder should never be packaged in plastic bottles or paper/plastic/foil packets. Pines is also the only wheatgrass company to follow all the other growing, harvesting, storage, and packaging standards established in 1937 by Dr. Schnabel. Pines is a company composed of more than one hundred shareholders, including organic farming families. We live in a very unique area in the northeastern corner of Kansas. It is also a region with enough natural rainfall that no potentially-contaminated groundwater is ever needed to grow wheatgrass. It is the same location where Dr. Schnabel started his research 80 years ago.

We own the same farm that Dr. Schnabel and other scientists used for their published research on cereal grass starting in 1932. As our sales have grown, we have added additional acreage.

We are the only grower to cultivate cereal grasses, including wheat grass, barley grass, and oat grass, harvested during the nutrient-dense jointing stage. We carefully follow the extensive scientific and medical research.

The facts are clear: After the jointing stage, the plant drains the cereal grass of its stored nutrition. Cereal grass becomes brown and dead. Its nutrition went to make the flag grass and the developing grain. We have tested competing ingredients that have emerged in the marketplace since we began nearly 50 years ago, in 1976. Few contain real cereal grass. Instead, they contain flag grass.

This video shows the difference between an actual cereal grass and its flag grass. True cereal grass does not contain stems or developing seeds. Its purpose is to build extreme nutrient density through slow growth in cold weather to provide nourishment for the developing grain and the flag grass stems and leaves that support the grain heads.

If you look at the bottom of each flag grass stem, you see dead cereal grass, drained of nutrition to produce the flag grass and grain.

Other growers claim to produce cereal grass but choose to harvest after the cereal grass stage because the yield for flag grass can be many times greater than that of actual cereal grass. By claiming that it is cereal grass when it is flag grass, they can take advantage of the higher price that actual cereal grass commands.

We discovered a 23-year-old, unopened, oxygen-free bottle. Pines is the only green superfood company to remove oxygen from glass bottles with special metal caps. We opened it and discovered that even after 23 years, the contents were still green. Green food products in plastic bottles often start to lose their color within weeks, and within six months, many have turned brown. That's because plastic offers no protection against oxidation. It is also detrimental to the environment and can introduce microscopic plastic particles into our bodies. Learn more at wheatgrass.com.

When Dr. Charles Schnabel discovered extremely high nutritional levels in cereal grasses such as wheatgrass and barley grass, his team developed the world’s first multi-vitamin made entirely of cereal grass in 1932.

They had discovered that cereal grass reaches an extremely high nutritional level for only a few days once yearly in the early spring after a winter of slow growth when it is less than ten inches tall.

Nearly 50 years ago, in 1976, Pines followed that research to introduce Pines Wheat Grass and Barley Grass. With only a 3.5-gram serving, you receive a whole serving of a dark green leafy vegetable.

As was true for Schnabel’s products, we package our nutritional-dense cereal grass in amber glass bottles with special metal caps to seal in an oxygen-free atmosphere. That keeps the cereal grass high in vitamins and nutrients for many years.

After our success with true wheatgrass, growing “wheatgrass” indoors in trays for about 10 days became popular. Unlike true wheatgrass, the roots of tray grass become a tangled, moldy mess because they cannot go deep into the famous glacial soil used by both Schnabel and Pines. The nutrition level of tray grass is a fraction of true wheatgrass.

Then, about 20 years ago, factory farmers got into the act. They didn’t like that true wheatgrass and barley grass produced less than 500 pounds per acre when harvested at the correct time. Instead, they let the plant grow tall by allowing the cereal grass to be drained of nutrition to grow “flag grass.”

They claim these aspirated flag grasses in plastic tubs are amazing, even though the flag grass they claim is wheatgrass requires more than twice as much to equal Pines. Worse, they often blend the flag grass with additional low-cost and low-nutrition ingredients, so the resulting product requires even more grams for a serving.

The plastic tubs are often about half full and fool the consumer. Some never look to see the number of servings in the container.

Those who divide the price by the number of servings see that 100% pure Pines products offer the lowest cost per serving because of the nutrient density of real cereal grass. We also never blend with unnecessary low-cost ingredients.

We are now harvesting wheatgrass. To harvest at the precise once-a-year time, lasting only a few days, our crew starts at daybreak and works late into the night drying the product.

Here, we see one of only two low-temperature, all stainless steel, food grade, non-GMO verified, certified organic driers for cereal grass in existence. Both facilities are both owned and operated by Pines.

Other growers are factory farmers with antiquated driers that produce pesticide-based animal feed. They established an “organic sideline” for cereal grass on a small portion of their land to compete with Pines.

Sadly, they don’t follow the science. Instead, they wait until grasses such as wheat and barley are twice as tall as the research demands. As a result, the plant has less than 50% of the potential nutritional value. They let it grow tall to increase yields and profit.

We grow all our products. In nearly 50 years, we have never used chemical fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, or fungicides. We have always been 100% organic. Our products are much different than those diluted with dozens of cheap filler ingredients using a nonsensical claim that blends are better than a single ingredient, 100% nutrient-dense product without fillers.

The proof is the serving size. Our serving sizes require much less product than those that claim to be as good as Pines. Some blends require as much as ten times more per serving.

Plastic tubs and paper bags for green food products do not protect against oxidation. The science of greens requires packaging in oxygen-free glass bottles to preserve sensitive nutrients and keep the products fresh, green, and loaded with nutrition.

We have limited supplies since everything we sell comes only from our organic farms. We take no shortcuts and harvest only at the peak stage when the cereal grass is less than ten inches tall.

Those fortunate to add gluten free Pines Wheat Grass to their diet use the world’s first green superfood. Our high nutrient density, special packaging, and harvesting at the correct time are why Pines offers the lowest cost per serving of any green superfood.

Under the snow this past winter, the wheatgrass on our farm was alive and building a deep root structure. Now that the snow has melted and we are experiencing warmer temperatures, the wheatgrass has grown to one inch tall above the ground, with roots that go down more than a foot in the world-famous glacial soil found on our farm, which produced the first wheatgrass for human consumption in 1932.

In a few weeks, our wheatgrass will be seven inches tall and move into the gluten-free jointing stage. This stage lasts only a few days and occurs when the wheatgrass reaches a nutritional level many times greater than that of other green, leafy vegetables.

Because the yield for harvesting such a short plant is very low, other growers wait until cereal grass is taller but much less nutrient-dense to harvest. Pines International has always followed the science and harvests at the nutritional peak. In 1939, the American Medical Association accepted cereal grass grown on our farm and explicitly harvested at the jointing stage as a nutrient-rich dark green leafy vegetable.

Due to the popularity of Pines Wheat Grass, other companies discovered a way to make more profit by creating mixtures of lower-nutrition and less costly vegetable powders. Some blends require as much as 20 grams to equal a 3.5-gram serving of Pines Wheat Grass. That's why Pines continues to offer the lowest price per serving of any other green food powder.

Green blends in cheap plastic tubs are not a good value compared to Pines Wheat Grass in oxygen-free glass bottles, which protect against oxidation. Plastic tub blends cost more per serving than Pines Wheat Grass and lack the necessary packaging required for AMA acceptance. Packaging green food powders in plastic tubs results in a loss of nutritional value and color.

That is why most of these "green blends" are only briefly on the market and why Pines Wheat Grass will soon celebrate its 50th year in 2026.

Next year, 2026, we will celebrate Pines' 50th and Cerophyl's 94th anniversaries. We are proud to follow the growing and harvesting standards established by Dr. Charles Schnabel in 1932 and still use the same farm.

We are the only cereal grass growers who carefully follow what Schnabel and his scientific team discovered as the precise point when we must harvest cereal grasses for the highest nutrient density.

The cereal grass Dr. Schnabel and his team grew on our farm was so high in vitamins that Cerophyl became known as the world's first multivitamin, made from 100% cereal grass. They provided Cerophyl to doctors and hospitals for medical studies.

Those studies resulted in several dozen published reports of efficacy in periodicals such as the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA). As a result of the medical research, in 1939, JAMA published a statement accepting dehydrated cereal grass tablets and powder grown on our farm as nutrient-dense human foods.

While our predecessor company, Cerophyl, produced the world's first multivitamin in 1932, Pines produced the world's first green superfoods sold in Natural Food Stores in 1976. Our wheatgrass and barley grass are 100% pure, without the cheap fillers in copycat products sold in plastic tubs rather than the oxygen-free glass bottles used by Cerophyl and Pines to protect sensitive nutrients from oxidation and loss of value.

We hope everyone will join us in preparing for next year's big celebration. As the first wheatgrass company, the link to Pines' website is wheatgrass.com.

01/10/2025

Scams, including those in the natural product marketplace, are common on the Internet. An example is a green food company that set up a website pretending it was an independent agency that tests products. Their scam claims to be a "smart review" but is a dishonest invention by a company with poor quality, low-fiber, green food that laughingly is the only one receiving an A+ rating from their fake review site of the five green food products they lied about testing!

The scammers defamed most who did not get a good rating because they "contained cereal grass." The fake review says people should not consume cereal grass because it contains fiber.

What is worse about that lie is that the specific fiber in cereal grass is well-known in medical science for promoting colon health. Indeed, fiber is not digestible, but only uneducated dummies would not realize that fiber is essential as a part of the roughage necessary for colon health.

They make that ignorant and dangerous defamation even though, for over 90 years, the most popular greens on the market have been or have contained cereal grass because of its excellent kind of fiber. As the bestselling book, "The Save Your Life Diet" by Dr. David Ruben, discovered in cross-cultural studies, indigenous high-fiber natural diets lead to virtually no cancer, heart disease, or other "diseases of civilization" that occur in cultures like ours with low fiber diets.

The low-fiber product these scammers promote with the fake review should never be used unless accompanied by cereal grass products such as Pines Wheat Grass or Pine Barley Grass. Our cereal grasses offer the perfect balance of fiber and nutrients for colon health.

Pines' cereal grass products have been used in laboratories for over 75 years to grow probiotic bacteria. Despite the scammer's ridiculous claims about the fiber in cereal grass, scientists have found that Pines cereal grasses provide the perfect medium and fiber for the bacteria we need for healthy colons.

Worse than the low fiber in their poor quality product, countries beyond the reach of inspectors provide some of the ingredients in the scammer's product. Their use of cheap plastic tubs for packaging also reflects the poor quality of their ingredients.

For nearly 50 years, Pines have been the original green superfood. We have always followed science to harvest at the correct time for maximum nutrient density. We have always packaged the greens in oxygen-free glass bottles to protect them from oxidation. We have never used environmentally destructive plastic tubs, which, even if recycled, usually end up in landfills or oceans. Plastic does not protect against loss of nutrition and color and imparts microscopic plastic particles into the diet.

The worst thing about their product is the lack of adequate fiber. Recent studies at the University of Michigan confirm Dr. Ruben's conclusion and have shown how low-fiber diets of low-fiber greens, like those the scammers use to trick people into buying, cause the growth of anaerobic bacteria rather than essential probiotic bacteria.

Without a properly functioning colon, all research points to a higher risk of colon cancer and other diseases that Dr. Ruben discovered in his research for "The Save Your Life Diet.".
Adequate fiber makes a green food product healthy for the colon, while the cheaply produced, low-fiber greens packaged in cheap plastic tubs represent the wrong kind of food to prevent disease and promote good health.

As evidence of Pines' 49 years as the world's first green superfood, we own the domain "wheatgrass.com," which proves we are the original. We follow a tradition established in 1932 by the world-famous scientist Dr. Charles Schnabel, known as "the father of wheatgrass," and still grow our cereal grass on the same farm.

Established in 1976, Pines WheatGrass is the original organic green superfood. Never grown in trays, it's grown naturally outdoors in cold weather with deep roots.

Natural supermarket chains have become nearly the same as other supermarket chains. Having once been a source of quality, "number crunchers" now rule. Corporate people at "headquarters" insist that the stores only promote low-nutrition products in cheap plastic packaging because such products offer profits that are double or even triple the store's cost.

With this deterioration of the two major natural food chains due to the movement away from quality, some smaller chains have filled the void by still carrying outstanding products, such as the original green superfoods provided by Pines International. As a result, these smaller chains are growing while the profit-over-quality big chains are shrinking.

One natural supermarket chain that has not given into the "number crunchers" is Earth Fare, located primarily in southern states. They carry a complete line of products from Pines International because Earth Fare respects that Pines follows well-established scientific standards and grows cereal grasses and alfalfa only in rich certified organic glacial soils without irrigation,

Additionally, Pines follows the science concerning packaging using amber glass bottles with special metal caps that allow the company to remove the air from each bottle and replace it with an oxygen-free atmosphere. Tests confirm that removing the oxygen from tightly sealed glass bottles keeps the product fresh, green, and nutrient-dense for years and even decades.

For 49 years, Pines' products in oxygen-free glass have been known as the original green superfoods. We care about our planet and have never used environmentally destructive plastic packaging, which, even if recycled, usually end up in landfills or oceans. Plastic does not protect against loss of nutrition and color. It also imparts microscopic plastic particles into the diet.

While most green foods are grown by chemical-based GMO factory farms with an "organic sideline," Pines has never used any product not approved by the USDA Certified Organic program in its 49 years of operation.

Our history dates back even further than our founding in 1976. Our farm is where the world's first multivitamin, Cerophyl, was grown. Cerophyl provided the minimum daily requirements of all known vitamins. The multivitamin's only ingredients were cereal grasses from our farm.

Starting in 1932, Dr. Charles Schnabel, the father of wheatgrass, and his team of scientists found that for only a few days yearly, wheatgrass and barley grass reach a nutritional peak with very high nutrient density. We still follow that science on the same farm using world-famous glacial soil without irrigation.

Irrigation is a shared resource. Because of that, farm chemicals used in nearby fields for non-organic crops contaminate the groundwater. Our locations are in regions with adequate rainfall, so we never need irrigation from shared groundwater sources.

While the big chains are closing stores due to the "number crunchers" promoting only cheaply produced and poorly packaged products, Earth Fare is growing because it is an organic natural food chain that cares about offering its customers the finest, most nutritious, chemical-free products.
