Saying it louder for the people in the back... YOU CAN DECLINE CERVICAL CHECKS. How dilated you are (or are not!) right now tells you only that, your dilation RIGHT NOW. It doesn't predict when labor will begin, it doesn't predict how fast your labor will go, or how successful your VBAC will be. Period. End of story.

It's been a while folks! I took a year-long hiatus from postpartum doula work for 2024 after experiencing burnout and needing redirection in my life. Now, I feel a strong calling to get back into the industry because this work will be essential to guide us forward in the years to come. I believe all of our collective voices working together will be what helps us survive the assaults on our bodily autonomy and reproductive freedoms. If there was a better time to speak up and fight against fascism, now is it.

I will be opening my books to new postpartum clients starting February 1st. You may see some changes to this page as more of an advocacy platform as I become more involved with local organizations that protect our reproductive freedoms. Please like, share, and support us on our other social platforms!

Every single person plays a critical role in the revolution, what's yours?

Our Story

Blue Moon Doula Services was created and founded by Jennifer Richard, a young mother with the intention of providing the necessary compassion, education, empowerment, and support for new families to thrive during the life-changing transition that is childbirth and the fourth trimester.

I believe that our current culture surrounding childbirth fails to properly prepare and educate parents on the physiological process of labor or the changes that come immediately following birth, leaving their ability to make informed choices up to other people. I strive to provide evidence-based information and resources for my clients to make the most informed decisions possible for themselves and their babies. I believe every birthing person deserves a dignified birth in which their choices were honored, respected, and supported with evidence and compassion.

Birth and the immediate postpartum are a sacred time where mother and baby should be honored and cared for so they can bond, heal, and transition from one being to two. It is possible to have an empowered, euphoric birth experience and I strive to make that accessible to all my clients.

I provide comprehensive fertility, birth, and postpartum support to all families. This means I do not discriminate on the basis of s*x, gender, orientation, marital status, familial status, ethnicity, nationality, disability, or financial ability. I provide hourly postpartum support and overnight support to new families so parents have a reliable source of information, compassion, and support.
