Sorry I haven't updated lately...works been crazy.

Super happy with Adyn's leveks the past 24 hours!

Things we have learned so far:

1. You will use 1 vile every 48ish hours. We might end up using more as he is able to now start eating all the time (first 3-5 days they want you to only do the 3 meals so it learns).

2. Infusion site on the upper buttocks is best for him. Stomach made it hard to bend / move and he doesn't feel it there.

3. We do replace the infusion every time we change the insulin. They recommend 2-3 days to replace but I have had people say they do it every 4....anyone have thoughts on this?

4. Not sure how I feel about the diabetes belt we have. (Spibelt) we might order a custom one on Etsy that has gotten 3,000+ good reviews.

First practice on the pump. We for sure gotta change what we are eating before!

1 hour in and he is low. He is fine. Just gonna probably do a pbJ before he gets in.

If your teens diabetes bag contents looks like this, the iLet might be good for them.

😔 this struggle has been so real and so hard. He says he can do it and I let go and this is what doing it looked like. He is a junior and goes to college soon.

I was afraid to share this post. Please know I always stepped in with this. I would of course sneak his bag and clean it all the time and organize it but if he can't organize a bag how's he going to manage his diabetes? Answer was he wasn't. He was doing his job as best as he could but levels were not good. He has a lot on his plate and obviously diabetes was too much on top of everything else.

Sharing every part of this journey in hopes that we can help someone else.

PS this is mostly empty wrappers and tablet containers. He has a bag for his needles but he always tried to be so discreet so no one would see or know it would lead to this.

Sunday update:

Stayed in range for 24 hours. Best day since before diagnosis. He just ate so it is going up now.

They said 3-5 days only eat breakfast, lunch and dinner so it learns him.

Today is day 2.

His phone was dead last night but his pump wasn't. It was able to track him without the phone. I can't print the full map but he stayed in range.

Checking in. We had a higher spike for breakfast (pancakes, bacon, eggs and milk) but lunch I got McDonalds to try to simulate more of what he will see at school and that spike wasn't as large. Dinner tonight will be his second one on the pump.

I just posted a video of a quick rundown of our training yesterday. Really all we had to do was put in his weight and connect the Dexcom to it. We loaded the cartridge set up an infusion, and that was it.

Pretty simple process. Have to get used to having a tube on and figure out what belt is going to work best for him.

Pump update!

We had our training yesterday. Here's a quick update.

Posting sugars before we started and since we have started. He officially was hooked up at 4:30pm yesterday. So far so good.

Still went low briefly last night but not like he normally does.

I'll have a video a little later today I have to upload it.

Good morning. It looks like I offended someone somehow with my posts and my account might be suspended or deleted.

I AM NOT BEING PAID BY BETA BIONICS AND I DO NOT WORK FOR BETA BIONICS.

I made my page to help others if they are going through this journey OR are thinking about using this pump. Selecting a pump is a 4 year commitment and this is brand new technology. My posts and pics are to help others period.

It is also nice for me to connect with others who have offered support and encouraging words.

I really hope this doesn't get deleted. If so I will start over. :( So sad and frustrated this morning.

OK first tip with the iLet. When you get it make sure you have clear direction as to who will be training you and when so you can manage your expectations.

Our doctors office doesn't have anybody trained yet which is understandable because this is new but we finally heard back from Beta Bionics today and they told us 24 to 48 hours after we call which in a couple minutes we'll have been 24 hours.

 oh totally not upset at all. I just want to be able to manage my expectations. We are excited to get him on this pump.

We are also still on the G7 so we will need at least two hours lead time to switch back to the G6.
