When a child struggles to focus, most people only look at the brain.
In functional medicine, we look at the whole picture.

Focus is shaped by:

→ Gut health - inflammation and nutrient absorption directly affect cognitive performance

→ Immune balance - chronic immune activation can impact neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin

→ Nervous system regulation - if the body is stuck in “fight or flight,” it’s hard for the brain to settle and learn

At Neuronutrition, we identify what’s happening beneath the surface so we can support focus, mood, and learning capacity from the inside out.
If focus has been a challenge for your child, we can help uncover the why, and build a plan to address it.

When focus, anxiety, or mood changes start showing up in your home, it’s not always “just” behavior.

At Neuronutrition, we look at the root causes:
→ Nutrient deficiencies that affect brain function
→ Gut inflammation that disrupts mood and focus
→ Nervous system patterns that keep the body stuck in stress mode

And here’s something parents often don’t hear, your nervous system health matters just as much as your child’s.

Children co-regulate with you, which means when your system is calmer, theirs is too.

We use tools like functional testing, targeted nutrition, lifestyle shifts, and even the Alpha-Stim device to help calm the mind and body, supporting focus, reducing anxiety, and improving emotional regulation.

If your family is struggling with focus or mood right now, there is a way forward that addresses the whole picture.

When a child struggles in school, the assumption is often behavioral.

But in our office, we start with the body.

We ask questions like:

→ Are nutrient imbalances affecting emotional regulation?
→ Is poor sleep tied to gut inflammation or dysbiosis?
→ Are food sensitivities causing attention or behavior issues?
→ Is immune stress draining energy and focus?

These are questions you won’t find on a standard physical form.

But they’re often the root of what makes the school year hard.

A functional wellness visit is a chance to investigate what’s going on beneath the surface, and support your child’s full capacity to learn, focus, and thrive.

You’ve done the back-to-school prep:

✔ New shoes
✔ School supplies
✔ Packed lunches

But what about their immune system?

Every hallway, water fountain, and classroom comes with new exposures, and most kids’ bodies aren’t fully ready for it.

That’s why we love starting the year with Immune Support, a comprehensive blend of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and botanicals designed to:

→ Strengthen immune response
→ Support the gut and mucosal barrier (your child’s first line of defense)
→ Help the body clear viruses, histamine, and inflammatory buildup

With clinically-researched ingredients like zinc bisglycinate, NAC, quercetin, glutathione, and Vitamins A, C & D₃, this isn’t your average “gummy.” It’s targeted, therapeutic support for real-world exposure.

✔ One capsule daily for ages 4–8
✔ Two for older kids and adults
✔ Temporarily increase during illness or high exposure (under provider guidance)

Pair it with quality sleep, gut-friendly meals, and outdoor play, and you’ve got a plan that actually supports your child’s whole system this school year.

Ask us if Immune Support is right for your child, or schedule a wellness visit with

Caroline or Jana to create a full back-to-school immune plan.

Cognitive function isn’t just about effort.
It’s about physiology.

The gut-brain-immune axis plays a central role in learning, mood, memory, and behavior.

And when that system is inflamed or imbalanced, we see:

→ Focus challenges
→ Mood swings
→ Poor sleep
→ Fatigue
→ Increased illness and missed school

At Neuronutrition, our functional wellness visits evaluate how each child’s internal systems are working together, and create a plan to support better outcomes.

When the nervous system is calm, the immune system is strong, and the gut is supported… the classroom becomes a different experience.

You’ve got the new sneakers, the labeled water bottles, the #2 pencils...

But if your child’s gut, brain, and immune system aren’t regulated, even the best supplies won’t get them through the first quarter.

That’s where a functional wellness visit comes in.

We check what’s actually going on, from nutrition to focus to immune resilience, so you’re not back in the pediatrician’s office by week two.

Let’s get ahead of it.

Nutrition advice is everywhere.
But if it doesn’t consider your genes, it’s incomplete.

Because here’s the truth: your body doesn’t respond to food based on trends. It responds based on your biology.

At Neuronutrition, we use functional genomics to understand how your unique genes affect:

✔️ Nutrient absorption
✔️ Detox and methylation
✔️ Caffeine and histamine sensitivity
✔️ Inflammation and food reactions

This isn’t guesswork. It’s data-backed care built around you.

Maybe you don’t need more supplements, you need the right ones.
Maybe it’s not your diet, it’s how your body metabolizes what you eat.
Maybe your “sensitivity” isn’t random, it’s genetic.

When you understand your blueprint, you can finally fuel your body in a way that works.

Curious what your genes say about your nutrition needs? Book with Caroline Dixon, FNP or Jana to explore functional genomics and personalized care.

It looks like anxiety.
It feels like burnout.
It sounds like depression.

But what if it’s not just mental?
What if it’s your genes?

We’ve worked with patients whose symptoms were brushed off as stress or mood-related, when the real issue was poor methylation, sluggish detox pathways, or a gene variant affecting neurotransmitters.

When we finally looked under the surface, at their functional genomics, the picture changed.

Because mental health isn’t just in your mind.
It’s in your biology.

Two people can have the same diagnosis.

Same symptoms.
Same treatment plan.
Only one gets better.

That’s the difference between protocol-based care and gene-informed care.
Because your body doesn’t follow a template, it follows your biology.

At Neuronutrition, we use functional genomics to understand how your genes process stress, inflammation, hormones, and detox pathways. It’s not about finding what’s “wrong”, it’s about finding what’s true for you.

This is where personalized care begins.

Book with Caroline Dixon, FNP or Jana to explore what your genes might be trying to tell you.

Just because a gene runs in your family…
Doesn’t mean the outcome is set in stone.

That’s the power of epigenetics, how your environment, stress, sleep, nutrition, and even toxin exposure affect the way your genes express themselves.

We don’t just test for variants.

We help you understand how to work with them, so your care plan is built around your biology, not just your symptoms.

Whether you’re trying to support focus, hormones, mood, or fertility, this insight changes the game.

Your genes may load the blueprint.
But you get to influence how the house is built.

Ready to explore functional genomics with us? Book a visit with Caroline Dixon, FNP, or Jana, our nurse practitioner, starting this August.

You’ve done the testing.
Your thyroid is “fine.”
Your iron is “okay.”

Your doctor says you just need more sleep, less stress, maybe a new antidepressant.

But you still feel off—anxious, exhausted, and not like yourself.

What if the root cause isn’t in your bloodwork... but in your environment?

According to the NIH, exposure to mold and mycotoxins—especially from water-damaged buildings—is now linked to:
✔️ Neuropsychiatric symptoms
✔️ Brain inflammation
✔️ Hormone disruption
✔️ Mitochondrial dysfunction and chronic fatigue

And no, mold isn’t just found in old or rundown buildings. We’ve seen cases in brand-new homes where poor ventilation, lack of weep holes, or improper construction caused moisture buildup behind the walls—and a perfect environment for mold.

Mold exposure doesn’t just affect your sinuses. It can disrupt neurotransmitters, spike histamine, trigger inflammation, and make your brain feel wired or foggy.

If your symptoms started after a move, a renovation, a water leak—or simply living in a building that never quite felt “right”—environmental triggers might be the missing piece.

Our clinical team can help you evaluate your history, recommend testing, and explore root-cause solutions.

What we wish someone told us…

Not all baby symptoms are “just a phase.”
Not all pain is normal.

And not all advice deserves to be followed.

Too often, new moms are told to wait it out. To try rice cereal in a bottle. To assume colic is normal. To accept pain as part of breastfeeding. But these moments of struggle are often the body’s way of saying: something’s off.

Let’s talk about that rice cereal advice for a second.

Adding rice cereal to bottles is still a common recommendation for reflux. But here’s the truth:

It doesn’t address why the reflux is happening. It just thickens the milk. And in many cases, it can make things worse, contributing to constipation, microbiome disruption, and nutrient displacement during a critical window of development. Rice is also one of the most common sources of arsenic exposure.

Reflux often points to underlying food sensitivities, gut immaturity, or histamine issues—not a need for more starch.

→ Colic is common - but not normal.
→ Breastfeeding shouldn’t hurt. Pain can be a sign of tongue ties, latch issues, or infection.
→ Moms matter too - because your health impacts your baby’s, from immune resilience to feeding dynamics.

At Neuronutrition, we believe in giving moms more than advice - we offer answers. Through infant consults, food sensitivity testing, and root-cause care, we help families navigate the early years with clarity and confidence.

If you’re a new mom feeling dismissed or unsure what’s “normal,” you’re not alone.
And you deserve care that actually explains what’s going on.
