“One can be in a larger body and be healthy, or in a smaller body and be unhealthy.”

This quote cuts to the heart of the problem with how we often approach eating disorder treatment. Recovery shouldn’t come with size requirements.

Read more about how one of my clients bravely challenged her treatment team after recognizing that their language was unintentionally reinforcing weight stigma. Her honest reflections and thoughtful letter might inspire you to speak up for yourself, ask for the care you truly need, and advocate for a recovery journey that honors your lived experience.

Traditional Health goals often focus on weight loss, restrictive eating, or excessive exercise, pressuring people to change their bodies rather than support their well-being.

These resolutions are rooted in diet culture, which prioritizes weight over health and often leads to guilt, frustration, and an endless cycle of feeling like you’ve "failed."

Part of goal setting, especially SMART goal setting, is the R… “Realistic.”

Sustainable health goals that focus on nourishment, energy, and overall well-being are more realistic than arbitrary numbers on a scale.

Unlike general practice dietitians, those who specialize in eating disorders have extensive training and experience focused on the unique challenges of ED recovery. They understand the complex emotional, psychological, and physical aspects of eating disorders. They are equipped with the tools to help individuals heal their relationship with food in a safe and supportive way.

These dietitians focus not just on nutrition but also on rebuilding trust with food, navigating the often difficult emotions tied to eating, and fostering lasting balance in a way that feels empowering…not restrictive. Their expertise ensures a comprehensive approach to recovery, guiding individuals toward a healthier, more balanced life.

A weight-inclusive, non-diet approach shifts the focus from appearance to overall well-being.

Instead of centering nutrition care around weight loss, we work with clients to build sustainable habits that support physical, emotional, and mental health, regardless of body size.

This approach helps reduce shame and encourages a more peaceful relationship with food and body.

Wear clothes that make you feel comfortable and confident this summer, including swimwear! There's no one-size-fits-all when it comes to style, so choose outfits that reflect your personality and make you feel amazing.

If shopping for bathing suits brings anxiety, look for stores that celebrate all body types, offering a variety of styles that cater to different preferences and comfort levels.
