We proudly recognize the City of El Reno - Gov for the dedication of the members of the EMS team during Orientation and Credentialing - a vital step as they prepare to launch city-operated EMS service.

The onboarding process goes far beyond paperwork. El Reno EMS providers engaged in a comprehensive curriculum including:

Protocol education and medical oversight standards
Tabletop RSI (Rapid Sequence Intubation) scenarios
Heat emergency management
Drowning and diving-related injury response
Land envenomation and toxic exposure training
Quality assurance expectations and documentation practices

This hands-on, scenario-based training ensures that every provider is equipped with the knowledge, critical thinking, and clinical readiness to handle high-risk emergencies from day one.

We’re honored to support this dedicated team and proud to stand beside them as they begin their service to the El Reno community.

Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) training significantly enhances First Responders' ability to respond effectively to trauma emergencies by focusing on rapid assessment, critical thinking, and lifesaving interventions in the field.

PHTLS is the gold standard in trauma care education, designed to improve the quality of trauma care and reduce mortality. It’s not just a course—it’s a mindset shift that prepares responders to act decisively when every second counts.

Our team partnered with members of the Stillwater Fire Department who put in the work - dedicating time, focus, and determination - to perfect their lifesaving skills and ensure they’re ready when it matters most.

We’re proud of their commitment to sharpening their emergency response skills, and their continued pursuit of excellence and unwavering commitment to protecting the communities they serve.

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Class Opportunity!

We are excited to announce the opening of registration for an EMT Basic course, which will begin in August.

Registration will close on July 11th.
Tuition is due on July 28th.
Course orientation via zoom August 1st @ 1900hrs
Course starts August 4th.
Course ends November 16th.

Skills will be hosted at Chickasha Fire & EMS on August 30th, September 13th, October 4th, November 1st, and November 16th.

Today, HLMD Associate Medical Director Carolina Wales, DO and Woodward County EMS Paramedic Chad Campbell participated with an expert medical panel leading EMSCRASH! What Happens from the Scene to the Trauma Bay at the 2025 Oklahoma Traffic Safety Summit.

The session discussed real life motor vehicle crash scenarios in both rural and urban areas with a focus on the trauma system in Oklahoma from every touch point of a patient. These experts discussed limitations and strengths of the environment in which they work, and the race against the clock to get the "right patient to the right place in the right amount of time."
