“Mom, how do I make more friends?”

(With school starting again, my daughter asked me this question on Sunday.)

My response?
Just say YES 👌🏼
If you are asked to do things with people you want to be friends with who do the things you like to do, and will share fun times with you…say yes!

Letting go of the insecurities and worry that someone is better, faster, prettier, more capable than you, isn’t easy. And I know she is dealing with those feelings like we all do from time to time.

But saying YES is the best way to conquer them, and feel the empowerment of a new experience, situation or challenge.

race is this weekend at Alta! Time to chase friends and ⛰️😎😍

Ya’ll remember push-up Karl right? (Scroll back a few reels to check out his push ups)

At work I get to train and coach all different bodies, abilities and ages. Including 66 year old Karl!

I started training Karl 1 year ago.
He didn’t start working with me on his nutition until January of this year.

⬇️Check this out!
Since January Karl has lost:
28 lbs
8% body fat
And is now pre-diabetic instead of diabetic 😊

I always tease Karl, I want to be like him when I grow up because he still has that “not give up, i’ll try anything attitude”.

He in return says, we’ll I want to be more like you when I grow up 😆

Karl is exactly what happens if you listen to your coach, and take the steps every single day to fuel the way your body needs to fuel and train the way your body needs to train.

So proud of you Karl!

Just doin’ mountain goat things, under some moody skies, and smiling big the WHOLE way up and down ⛰️🐐

Not everyone will understand your why and that’s ok. Do you, smile big, and keep chasing what makes your heart go pitter-pat 🧡

I haven’t run close to 10 miles for quite a while and it felt SO good.

Slowly increasing my miles is exactly what my body needs after a strength focused winter.

Felt so good to be out in the sun, with these babes, exploring new trails! 🏃🏼‍♀️ ⛰️ ☀️

That’s me in cowboy boots, a cowboy hat & wearing my ultra buckle around my waist as a belt….

You are never no old or young, weak or strong, broken or unbroken to accomplish whatever it is you are after.

The honest & true question will always come back to how bad you really want it. That will guide and direct every step you take and every choice you make.

Happy Monday friends.
Go chase after what you want today.🏆

10 things I do that keep me fit & strong at age 43.

1- Put my workout clothes on right when I wake up

2- Do my workout first thing (I know this doesn’t work for everyone, but for me it is gold)

3- Eat 5 smaller meals a day

4- Get 100-128 Oz of water a day

5- Limit my processed sugar intake

6- Eat my body weight (at least) in protein everyday

7- STRENGTH TRAIN

8- Don’t let excuses win

9- Eat a salad a day

10- Try to get 7-8 (I prefer 9!) hrs of sleep a night

The way I live my life is a lifestyle. Not a diet, or a quick fix. It takes effort, work and some days, more then motivation…it takes discipline.

Your body is capable.
But your mind & spirit are in control.

Looks easy according to my smiles doesn’t it?

But the journey to some of these peaks involved frigid temps, 3:00 alarm clock and a mind that had to overcome challenges to get here.

Our minds…that is where true strength comes from to overcome. All the true greats have a mindset that gets them to the top.

I’m constantly reminding myself:
Never give up.
Keep pursing, don’t settle.
Keep searching for answers.
Keep asking for help.
Keep doing the work.
Keep trying.

Goals don’t fall into your lap.
They are earned.

Do you have a goal right now? Or holding out for 2023?

Yesterday’s run was slooow.
Today’s easy 5k felt so much better.

Consistency pays off. Stick the course and don’t give up on the imperfect days.

Everyone knows the saying, “you can go longer with food than you can water”, and it is 💯 true!

When evaluating your individual fluid requirements there are 2 things to consider.
1- The fluid required for your general body needs.
2- The additional fluid required for training needs.

Before exercise:
All athletes should begin training/races well hydrated. Drink 16-24 Oz of water 2 hours prior to training.

During exercise:
Athletes should consume approx. 6-12 fluid oz. Every 10-20 minutes if possible.

After Exercise:
Athletes should replace every lb lost in weight with 16-24 fluid oz of water over the next couple hours.

All bodies are different and these are general guidelines to test out and try.

Most importantly drink beyond your thirst, keep yourself hydrated, and get yourself a 40 Oz tumbler because they fit in the cup holder of your car perfectly 👌🏼😁

Do you struggle to hydrate enough during races?

What can you do less of to gain more?

We all know that time is our greatest asset, and that we all have the same amount of time everyday to achieve our goals.

So why are some achieving more than others? Could it simply be because they have a better grasp on doing less to achieve more?

For example:
* Less time scrolling more time focusing on family, personal, physical, intellectual goals instead.
* Less time on interruptions during your workout (📱) more time on focused output and focused sets and reps.
* Less time on Netflix, more time on meal prep, planning dinners each week, and reviewing performance goals?

What can you do LESS of this week, to get MORE?

In the 8 week Fueled and Fit program we talk a lot about leveling up the whole picture as an athlete, not just focusing on performance, input and output.
