Breath of Renewal:
Healing Trauma with Yoga
In the quiet embrace of dawn's gentle light,
Where shadows retreat from the edges of night,
There lies a sanctuary where the heart can mend,
A sacred journey where body and soul blend.
Through the ancient art of yoga, we find,
A path to soothe the tumultuous mind,
Breathing in peace, exhaling the pain,
Healing trauma with each gentle refrain.
The mat becomes a haven, a place to be still,
A realm where we listen to our innermost will,
Stretching and bending, we release the past,
Finding freedom in poses that help us to last.
With every inhale, we draw in new life,
Exhaling sorrows, releasing the strife,
The body remembers what the heart long forgot,
In the dance of the asanas, we untangle the knot.
Warrior and Child, Mountain and Tree,
Each pose a whisper, "You are whole, you are free,"
In the flow of the vinyasa, we reclaim our grace,
Finding strength and compassion in this sacred space.
The trauma that once bound us starts to unwind,
In the rhythm of breath, a peace we find,
For yoga is not just a practice, but a balm,
A journey to wholeness, a return to calm.
So let us step onto the mat with reverence and trust,
In the power of stillness, the body’s deep thrust,
For in the union of breath, movement, and time,
We heal our traumas, one breath at a time.

Even the most educated and modern women are affected deeply by their traumas, especially those stemming from childhood. This can look like sleeplessness, anxiety, depression … and physical pain.
