“Thank you for hearing me.”
This is something that I hear a lot. It makes me think of how awful it would be to talking about my most personal,
private things with someone who I don’t feel is listening to me or hearing me. But it happens.
If this happens to you, you are not in a therapeutic relationship with your provider.
Sometimes it’s no one’s fault. Sometimes there just isn’t a connection. But in order to be able to benefit from mental
health care, whether it’s therapy or medication management, or both, there has to be a therapeutic relationship. You
have to feel like you can tell your provider anything and not be judged. You deserve to be heard.
