Energy Seed Yoga Meet Amy, a Yoga guide, meditation teacher, and sound practitioner who is known for her unique teaching approach and free hugs.

Her classes are light-hearted but heartfelt- you will find her sharing human moments in class. Meet Amy, a Yoga guide who is known for her free hugs and her unique approach to teaching. Her mission is to combine traditional Yoga philosophy with modern-day movements, so her students can apply these teachings to their daily lives. Amy has been practicing Yoga since the early 2000s, but it wasn't until she experienced personal tragedies in 2013 that she fully embraced its teachings. She lost her younger brother to suicide and developed a chronic health condition, as well as severe anxiety and depression. Yoga played a significant role in helping her coexist with these challenges and find a new lease on life. Amy is a fun-loving person who takes her Yoga teaching seriously. While she is qualified to teach in various 'styles' of Yoga, she specializes in Yin and Pranayama, which is a yogic breathing practice. Her Yin classes incorporate the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to help students establish a stronger connection with nature. When she's not teaching, Amy enjoys running, hiking, reading, baking cookies, taking care of her plants, and spending quality time with her husband. She founded Energy Seed Yoga to create a safe space where people can heal, grow, learn, and support each other.

Today is World Su***de Prevention Day, and my heart is with everyone who has been touched by su***de.

I lost my brother Luke to su***de in 2015. He was only 32. His absence changed me forever, and while words can’t carry all of that, I share because silence deepens stigma.

Su***de is not just personal, it is a global public health crisis.

Luke, and every soul lost, are not numbers. They are loved. They are remembered.

2025 Su***de Data:
❗️Every year, about 727,000 people die by su***de worldwide (WHO)
❗️In 2023, over 49,000 Americans died by su***de, about 1 every 11 minutes (CDC/NIMH)
❗️Su***de is the 3rd leading cause of death for ages 15–29 globally (WHO)
❗️In the U.S., men are nearly 4x more likely than women to die by su***de (NIMH)
❗️Firearms are the most common method of su***de in the U.S. (CDC)

Hatha Yoga kicks off Yoga Awareness Month series, Tuesday, September 9 at 6:15pm.

Hatha is often misunderstood as slow or gentle, but at its roots it is a dynamic, forceful practice. It was designed to channel prana, awaken the energy pathways of the body, and purify through breath and movement. It’s the foundation of so much of what we practice today.

August has become a peculiar month for me since the loss of my brother. I find it curious that it is also nature’s season of seeking balance between joy & grief.

This August marked ten years since my brother has been gone.
A decade doesn’t feel real.
The ache still feels raw.
And yet, I’ve noticed more peace within myself around his absence. That peace even comes with waves of guilt.
Grief is messy.

Over this past year, I’ve had a few opportunities to speak openly about him, his death, and the impact of his loss. Sharing has been healing for me, almost like therapy in disguise. Thank you for seeing me 🫶🏻

So here I am, stepping into September carrying both grief and joy. I'm still learning that balance is not about choosing one over the other, but holding space for both ☯️
