This is a great mnemonic to remember the forearm nerves! Forearm nerves are quite susceptible to being impinged or compressed. Every time we grab something out, forearm muscles are engaged. Over time, the stiff muscle tissue can lead to compression of the ulnar nerve. Further, our sleeping position (and many other positions that life places us in) can cause compression on the brachial nerve. The brachial nerve is in our upper back/rear shoulder/trapezius area and ultimately branches off into the median nerve and then the ulnar nerve. Bebalancedgr.com has a variety of massage techniques and modalities to increase the probability that ulnar nerve compression doesn't progress into diminished use of hand and digit function, carpal tunnel syndrome, or arthritis

Massage therapy helps trigger serotonin which can help to induce relaxation and feelings of euphoria which are similar to a good night of rest.
Different sleep disorders like insomnia, restless leg syndrome, and even narcolepsy can be mitigated with massage!
A study published in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine found that participants who received a 60-minute massage experienced an increase in delta brainwaves, which are associated with deep sleep, suggesting that massage can promote relaxation and provide benefits akin to those of sleep.
Hot stones, aromatherapy, extended scalp massage, and facial massage are aspects that have been widely recognized as being particularly beneficial for promoting quality rest and sleep.

Help yourself and your employees or colleagues be better, be balanced contact Bebalancedgr.com to set up your in-home or corporate massage!
PS: I really love the video game set-up all work and no play can lead to a definite imbalance.
PSS: If you're ever wondering about in-home massage the rates are quite reasonable! You get to relax in the comfort of your own home, you can set the vibe in terms of lighting, music, and overall ambiance. For comparisons sake, my rate is $105 per hour. There may be a travel fee if you are outside of Grand Rapids, but the first 15 miles away from my office are free, after that I add $0.63 per mile, and that is $20 cheaper than the cheapest massage at The Woodhouse! I worked at The Woodhouse for a time so I actually use a decent amount of their products, and I'm recognized as one of the best massage therapists in the state so there is excellent inherent value there.

There is a TON of misinformation regarding Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD). I'm hoping th educating those willing to learn these untrue premises arisleared away!
Attention, please f, r everyone who has been given common false information regarding manual lymphatic drainage.
It is *NOT* massage therapy! Massage therapy is designed to increase bloodflow (amongst other things) w,ich directly opposes lymphatic flow. In a nutshell, the increased pressure from the increased bloodflow creates excess pressure in the much smaller lymph vessels and angions (the smooth muscle that creates lymphatic flow). This pressure reduces the body's lymphangiomotorocity potential! Book your MLD session with Bebalancedgr.com!

Here is a bit more technical detail. Hyperemia, which is an increase in blood flow to a particular tissue, can negatively impact lymphatic flow in several ways:

1. **Increased Pressure**: The heightened blood flow leads to increased hydrostatic pressure in the local blood vessels. This can cause fluid to move out of the capillaries and into the surrounding tissue, resulting in edema. The excess fluid can overwhelm the lymphatic system, making it difficult for lymphatic vessels to effectively transport lymph.

2. **Tissue Swelling**: As the tissue becomes swollen due to excess fluid accumulation, it can compress nearby lymphatic vessels. This compression hinders their ability to transport lymph, leading to a reduced ability to drain interstitial fluid and return it to circulation.

3. **Inflammatory Mediators**: Hyperemia is often associated with inflammation, which can lead to the release of various inflammatory mediators. These substances can alter the function and permeability of lymphatic vessels, further impairing lymphatic drainage.

4. **Vessel Distension**: The distension of blood vessels from increased flow can also impact the structure and function of lymphatic vessels, possibly leading to a reduction in their effectiveness in collecting and transporting lymph.

**Impaired Immune Response**: The lymphatic system plays a crucial role in immune function. If hyperemia leads to compromised lymphatic flow, it may impair the body's ability to adequately

I read an uplifting post from an acquaintance today, and it was in reference to "person-first" care. With Be Balanced Bodywork, we recognize that a person is the cumulative sum of all of their experiences and not just reduced to an disability. An individual is a person first, before their disability! Using phrases that empower, includes, and doesn't diminish the worth of a person such as "a person who uses a wheelchair" instead of a "wheelchair-bound person."
Informed consent is also always used. Informed consent empowers a client to have the autonomy to have certain parts of their body not touched for whatever reason. If areas such as the glutes are to be worked, an explanation to as to why it would be beneficial, as well as verbal approval from the client ensures that they feel safe, heard, and comfortable during the massage process.

Massage therapy is also tailored to the needs of each individual! While there is a lot of universality in the massage realm, when it comes down to it, Be Balanced Bodywork designs our massages not be "one size fits all" but "one size fits one." This manifests itself in different modifications that may need to be made during a session. People with sensitivities to light, sound, smell, or even certain products are listened to, and their needs are met with specification suited to their needs. For example, a person with a visual impairment might be given verbal cues to help guide them through their experiences.

Bebalancedgr.com is committed to helping people of all walks of life enjoy the benefits of massage therapy. If you or anyone you know may benefit from massage therapy with a disability please look no further than Bebalancedgr.com!
