Honey is a superfood, and taking a little of raw, local honey can be awesome at addressing seasonal allergies (I prefer people to not put it in hot liquids when using for this, as I think it can destroy beneficial properties of the honey).

This is my look of disappointment…my girls(bees) let me down and it was my fault. After a couple hard years of having a divorce just drain absolutely everything out of me, the effects continue to be felt. Beekeeping is a commitment to care for what I consider animals/insects, livestock. It takes lots of time and money and it’s multiplied, of course as your hive count grows. Long story short, the hives that I had that are strong enough to pollinate are to aggressive to send.
I came into the new year determined to overcome and I am! While disappointed and now having the setback of losing pollination money, I did anticipate this and keep my head high. We’ve been upgrading the home apiary, adding other apiary locations, getting more equipment, stepping up on feeding the girls, doing some hive splits and of course obtaining hives through removals.
What can you do? Continue to support us by simply buying our honey and spreading the word that people should call us to save the bees and not exterminate.

While you are awake, the light from the sun, indoor lights, and electronics goes into your eye, hits your retina, is transmitted to the suprachiasmatic nucleus, and then to the pineal gland. This is an area of the brain where serotonin is synthesized into melatonin based on the light/dark signal. If light is hitting this area, melatonin synthesis is suppressed and cortisol production is ramped up. If light is not hitting this area, melatonin is formed and cortisol is suppressed.⁣

This is crucial because melatonin, your rest and relax hormone, makes you feel tired and enhances your sleep quality. Cortisol, on the other hand, is your get-up-and-go hormone. It is responsible for signaling your body to make energy and motivating you to be active. As would make sense, you want the hormone responsible for sleep highest near bedtime and lowest in the morning and vice versa. ⁣

To use the power of light, expose yourself to 15 minutes of sunlight each morning, and as the day turns to night, avoid screens and bright lights. Also, pick a bedtime and try to stick to it. For me, it’s 10:00 pm, and then I’m up by 6:00 am. ⁣

Just following this simple principle alone can lead to dramatic changes for so many people when it comes to their sleep quality and overall health. ⁣

Thank you so much to those that participated in our Holiday Foster Child Gift Giving! We weren’t sure what the response would be, so we chose 10, and all were easily taken. We’d love to double that next year! So fun to see everyone bring their items in, and so rewarding to bring some joy to those in need. Thank you!!! 💗

Hands down, one of my top favorite herbal remedies. So powerful, with so many benefits. Amazing for immune and to fight infections. We carry both Standard Process and Mediherb (more of a pharmaceutical grade) versions in the office. A great thing to have on hand in your medicinal cabinet.

There are many traditional echinacea benefits and uses, but the strongest scientific evidence available currently supports echinacea use (as echinacea extract or echinacea tea) as a way to help slow the development and reduce the intensity and duration of upper respiratory viral infections, such as....

I was making a smoothie for breakfast this morning and wanted to pass on the idea, because it's super healthy and almost every store I've been to recently has had all the ingredients for it...every time. Recipe is posted below. With anxiety high right now, it's more important than ever to watch the nutrition you do get as much as you can.

Maybe you already make smoothies or have in the past, if so, then this is a great reminder that they're a perfect go to right now. If you've never made them, but have a blender - you'll love how easy there are! They're packed full of nutrition and the little ones will love it too.

Tips:

Sprouts has had the best selection recently with all of these items.

Greens - Spinach, Swiss Chard, Kale - can buy the fresh, then wash and dry them, tear them up, put into a bag and store in the freezer.

Fruit - Can use fresh or frozen. Organic berries are the best because of nutrient content, but can choose any fruit you like/that's available.

Protein powder - My two favorite brands that I can get in the store are Vega and Orgain - you can also order them on Amazon. These don't need to be refrigerated which is nice.

Basic Recipe:
1 Scoop of Protein powder
1/4 of cup fruit
Handful of greens
Water to consistency
Optional - I add 2 T of flax or chia seeds (great source of omega 3's and definitely these items are easiest to find at sprouts), 1/4 an avocado and splash of coconut milk make it creamy and give it more flavor.

I do this using the smaller Vitamix blender container for size reference. I put in a little water, place rest of the ingredients in and then fill with more water to cover - ends up being about 2/3 of the way full. This makes one adult serving. You can play around with it - increasing or decreasing ingredients to your liking - it's very flexible.

Enjoy!
