…your baby’s needs are not at odds with your own.
In fact, this has applied to every stage of parenting for eleven years and counting.
When I’m not good at listening to my body or taking myself seriously, my kids will show me. If parenting or homeschooling or breastfeeding is making me feel resentful, there’s something for me there.
Hardest but best advice ever.
Pay attention:
Need to slow down? Your baby might seem clingy, unsettled, and needing to nurse frequently.
Need to move your body? Your baby might be tense, finicky about feeding positions, and have a shallow latch.
Need to be better about asking for and receiving support? Your baby might be awake frequently at night and fretful about being separated.
Need to focus on nourishing yourself? You might feel like you’re struggling with milk supply or baby’s weight gain.
Need to get more sunlight? Your newborn may be jaundiced or wake frequently at night.
This isn’t about a 2+2=4 equation. The exact observations and lessons will be different for everyone. It’s about tuning in to you and your baby. What nursing behavior feels like it’s pushing you over the edge? Is it asking you to soften? To strengthen? To lean in? To seek help?
These are the kinds of things we lean into in Earbud IBCLC. Sure, the lessons contain tons of practical, tangible breastfeeding answers. But they’re also designed to guide you toward tuning in to the right answer for you and your baby.
