If you’ve been considering a career in health care, Chelsey has some advice: follow your dreams.
Born and raised in Genesee and now living in Moscow, Chelsey has always called the Palouse home. When her son, Asher, was diagnosed with autism at age 4, his provider in Lewiston recommended Gritman Therapy Solutions for Speech Therapy. “Being from Genesee, Moscow felt like home, and I had family nearby, so the decision to move here was an easy one,” she shared.
Not long after, Chelsey interviewed at what was then Moscow Family Medicine for a Medical Assistant position and was hired on the spot. With encouragement from mentors like Gritman’s Dr. Summer Day, Case Manager and Registered Nurse Nicole Lynch, and former provider Dr. Jennifer Bentwood, she later took the leap to pursue her nursing degree at Walla Walla Community College.
Chelsey became a Registered Nurse in July 2025 and is now a Charge Nurse at Gritman’s QuickCARE clinic. She is also working part-time in our Wound Healing Center and is certain she’s found her life’s passion, guided by her dad’s words: “If you find something you love, you’ll never work a day in your life.”
“The most rewarding part is that it doesn’t feel like a job at all,” she said. "I get to make genuine connections and help make our patients' experience a positive one — being able to get someone to smile or laugh is an added bonus."
Chelsey’s days look different depending on where she’s serving — triaging patients and supporting her team at QuickCARE or providing fast-paced, hands-on care in Wound Healing. But no matter the setting, her goal is always the same: making sure patients feel seen, heard, and cared for.
Chelsey’s journey hasn’t been easy. She began nursing school just one month after losing her father to a rare neurological disease. As a single parent of a special needs child, she leaned on her mom and sister for support. “It was a lot to take on,” she said, “but I’m proud of myself and my family for leaning on each other and pushing forward.”
Now that school is done, Chelsey enjoys crocheting, camping, swimming, four-wheeling, and boating with her family and friends.
Her advice to future nurses? – “Take every learning opportunity you get and give yourself permission to not know everything.”
If you’d like to follow in her footsteps, we’re hiring! QuickCARE has open positions for LPNs, RNs, and Medical Assistants — the same role where Chelsey got her start. No experience required to get started as a Medical Assistant and on-the-job training is provided.
