Congratulations, Rebekah Chesnut, RN (pre-post op)! She recently received a DAISY award. A recent patient’s family nominated Rebekah for her compassionate care.

She attentively listened to my husband and to me as we expressed some of our concerns… In the midst of my distress, Rebekah was warm, calming, friendly, and displayed a gentle demeanor that helped me find some semblance of peace. I became extremely nauseous and overwhelmed by the medication I was given and Rebekah immediately sprung into action and was able to provide me with some relief. To some this may seem like minor things, but to the patient who is experiencing all of this, it is quite significant… It is heartwarming to learn that Memorial continues to employ compassionate, intelligent, and supportive nurses who genuinely care about their patients.

Congratulations, Madison Thompson, RN (Hixson U3)! She recently received a DAISY award. A recent patient’s family nominated Madison for her compassionate care.

“[Madison] cared for my daughter like she was her daughter. Madie’s positive attitude was fantastic and contagious. She is a perfect example of what a nurse should be… she is very caring and concerned with her patient’s well-being. She never made us feel we were a burden, and you can just tell that she really truly loves her job and her patients. Madie gives her all from the beginning of her shift until she leaves at the end of her shift… Madie is a shining star who we will never forget, and we will always be eternally grateful for the amazing care that she provided for my daughter.”

Madison has worked at CommonSpirit since April 2021.

We love our volunteers and are happy to celebrate them during National Volunteer Week! We have around 300 volunteers across all our hospital campuses and imaging centers. They assist with greeting our patients, wayfinding, providing courtesy shuttles, and so much more. And this summer, we will welcome about 40 student volunteers.

When you see a volunteer this week, please thank them for the many ways they provide humankindness to our employees and patients.
