Walking thoughts - for the parents šŸ¤

I saw a video recently where a youth sports coach said they don’t really want parents right there during practice, because they want to be able to coach the kids.

A lot of times, when parents are watching, kids don’t perform the same or they keep looking over.

I see this with my own kids too.

If you know me, you know I want to be at everything, watching everything. Total hover mode.

But something that’s helped me, especially as they’ve gotten older, is taking a walk while they’re at practice.

I’m still there. I can catch little glimpses of them.

But I’m not right on top of everything. I’m not micromanaging the process.

They get to be coached and learn what they need to learn, and I get movement, fresh air, and a little time to myself.

Win/win.

🚨 PSA: make your time work for you!

Because if we keep saying we don’t have time, we easily won’t have the time…

But when we prioritize ourselves and our health, that’s when and how we can be better at everything else.

And as an ā€œolderā€ mom (49 years young), it’s really important to me to focus on longevity. I want to be around for a long time. I want to feel good and be healthy so I can watch my babes do all of the amazing things they’re going to do.

So I encourage you to think about areas in your day where you can squeeze in something for your health.

Here are a few ideas:
* A quick 10-minute lap around your office, your house, your kitchen
* 10–15 squats every time you use the bathroom
* Push-ups against a wall when you can’t drop to the floor
* Calf raises while you’re standing around (brushing teeth, waiting in a line…)

And you’ll catch me doing things like leg lifts while I’m pushing the grocery cart or moving my arms around any chance I get, even when I’m driving (whatever hand isn’t on the wheel) and when I’m a passenger, I’m always doing some kind of movement.

The goal is constant motion whenever you can.

All of it adds up when you stay consistent.

My ADHD cannot handle this project.

The seasonal closet swap = Putting away clothes from last season that I barely wore…To make room for clothes for the next season that I’ll probably also barely wear.

Repeat forever.

But here’s my current struggle…

I donate a lot but I have many items in really good condition that I want to sell. But I also don’t have the patience to list everything, answer messages, package it up, and ship it out.

I know there are places like Poshmark and Mercari…
But I wish there were a middle-ground option.

Like…drop it off and be done.
Not high-end designer consignment.
Not Plato’s Closet either.

If you have a simple way to handle this, please share.

Also be honest… how many things in your closet still have tags on them or that you never wear?

Hot take: trips with your kids are a vacation.

Back to reality after spring break ā˜•ļø

Being away from the house, the routines, and the constant rushing around… getting to slow down, have real conversations, laugh more, and just spend time together in a different environment is something I never take for granted.

It’s not always relaxing, but being away from home and the day-to-day responsibilities definitely feels like a reset.

Today, I’m reheating my coffee for the 5th time and jumping straight into a 9am Monday meeting.

The end of the break is always bittersweet - and now I plan to to get back to sharing realistic fat loss, nutrition, workouts, and busy working mom life and what works for me in the hopes to help you too!

My pr***en would like everyone to know that when making a yogurt bowl that………

The toppings are the most important part!!! I taught her well!

But behind the toppings, we’ve been having bigger conversations lately about food.

How to nourish your body. How sweets can still be part of life.

Teaching her what helps our bodies feel good most of the time…with ice cream still making appearances. No ā€œgoodā€ or ā€œbadā€ foods, more about most of the time vs sometimes foods for overall health.

Back in the office after vacation, and while I’d love to still be on break, it feels good to get back into the groove!

Managed a quick 25-minute workout at the office gym, feeling refreshed and energized. My favorite workout pants (from Amazon) made it even better!

Top tips:

•Get protein & fiber with each meal
•Move your body—short workouts can be extremely effective
•Eat foods you enjoy
•Spend time with loved ones
•Smile at yourself & focus on the good!

Today’s meals:
